ArtsATL, which serves as Atlanta’s primary source for independent, comprehensive coverage of the arts, is looking for a visionary strategic leader to find new ways to fund a non-profit digital publication, engage the current audience, grow a bigger audience, and support the dynamic arts community
Founded in 2009, ArtsATL features interviews, in-depth reviews and analysis across six coverage areas: Art & Design, Music, Film & TV, Theater, Dance, and Books.

The next Executive Director for ArtsATL will be an experienced leader who can:

  • Invent and effect new ways to increase earned revenue

  • Steward the portfolio of foundations that support us and find new ones

  • Increase private support

  • Effectively manage day-to-day organizational needs including administrative and financial systems oversight

  • Represent ArtsATL to the community, nurturing existing relationships and fostering new opportunities

  • Collaborate with the ArtsATL Executive Editor to design and execute a plan for responsible growth of content

  • Collaborate with the ArtsATL Program Director to develop programming in line with the organization’s strategic goals.

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to take the organization to the next level

 

Primary Functions

• Business Operations & Management
o Develop and recommend annual budget in conjunction with the Board, prudently managing organizational resources

o Effectively oversee the human resources of the organization in accordance with personnel policies and procedures that conform to laws and regulations

o Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors, staff, and the Board

 • Revenue Generation

o Direct annual fund program that includes the annual fund plan, foundation and corporate gifts, in-kind contributions, and special events

o Lead strategies and research to identify, prioritize, cultivate, solicit, recognize and steward all donors and prospects

o Maintain an accurate contributed revenue records (e.g., historical giving records, grants calendar)

o Optimize existing earned revenue streams, including website ad sales and monetizing calendar features

o Identify and pursue additional future opportunities for earned revenue • Civic Engagement

o Serve as the face of ArtsATL to the Atlanta community

o Share the ArtsATL story broadly and meaningfully

 • Board Administration and Support

o Support operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members o Facilitate Board communication and meetings
o Participate in Board recruitment and orientation

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Mature, thoughtful leader committed to the artistic and civic mission of ArtsATL

  • Demonstrated skills in communications and business management

  • Experienced with grant-writing, fundraising, donor development, and stewardship

  • Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships with relevant organizations

  • Flexibility with the ability to keep multiple projects moving forward at the same time

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Energetic, forward-thinking and creative with high ethical standards

  • Attention to detail in support of strategic vision

  • Ability to articulate a vision of growth for the organization

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or similar graduate degree preferred
