Under general supervision of the Community Health Equity and Promotion Viral Hepatitis Coordinator, the OD and HCV Research Data Manager oversees the data management strategy for programs related to the SRO overdose prevention research, and the community-based HCV data. The position will help manage data specific to the SRO overdose prevention project and also aims to support the utilization of a data-to-care model for hepatitis C. The Data Manager will work with 1) various health department divisions, branches, and sections; 2) community-based organizations, and 3) other community task forces, coalitions, and collective impact initiatives to use data to help better understand program outcomes and impact and support publications for research studies.

This is a temporary, grant-funded, full time, benefited position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health.

Pay range: $33.65-$37.02 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, maintain and oversee a project timeline and reporting schedule for grants or programs related to hepatitis and other drug user health issues.
  • Develop, maintain and oversee a project timeline and reporting schedule for studies, grants, or programs related to overdose, hepatitis, and other drug user health issues.
  • Develop “report cards” or dashboards on SRO OD research study and HCV programmatic data to share with stakeholders.
  • Track all HCV Primary Care-Based Treatment Initiative activities in conjunction with the HCV Care Champion, Viral Hepatitis Coordinator and Primary Care-Based HCV Treatment Champion.
  • Provide support and technical assistance to community clinics in creating and maintaining local HCV Treatment registries, and aggregate clinic-level data on a monthly basis to maintain a SFHN treatment registry.
  • Extract and analyze OD mortality and/or HCV-related clinical data from the across the SFHN using the treatment registry, lab results, and EPIC data.
  • Monitor data analysis related to SFDPH’s community-based HCV testing initiative, and support data entry tasks as needed.
  • Develop “report cards” or dashboards on programmatic data to share with funded agencies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of written materials and presentation for possible use in San Francisco.
  • Keep informed of current local and national trends in Public health.
  • Attends and represents CHEP at Branch, Division, and Department level meetings as well as community meetings.
  • Confers with supervisor and Branch leadership regarding assignments, problems, and progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expertise on statistical software applications, particularly SQL.
  • Ability to create programs, trouble-shoot, and perform data analyses independently and assist others in doing so.
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Interest and ability to learn new technologies and to cross-train to support other staff duties.
  • Strong verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Microsoft Access programming, proficiency in Visual Basic and SQL.
  • Ability to design and maintain relational databases.
  • Sensitivity to and experience working with diverse racial/ethnic communities and work experience and interest in overdose, HCV, HIV/AIDS.

Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or in related field or demonstrated equivalent work experience.

Other Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Experience with report writing and knowledge of grant application procedures
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary collaboratives
  • Knowledge of community-based HIV and HCV testing practices
