Teen Empowerment Advocate

This professional will work 20 hours per week and is responsible for community-based teen dating violence prevention services.


Roles and Responsibilities:
• Participates in public speaking engagements, enhances community awareness, develops relationships with and provides Teen Dating Violence prevention education to youth, youth serving organizations, parents and adults.
• Facilitates Healthy Relationships curriculum in the community.
• Assists with annual Teen Summit planning and staffing.
• Serves as a liaison to local area schools and community partners.
• Maintains and records accurate monthly statistics.
• Utilizes volunteers and interns to assist with the Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program.
• Researches and finds appropriate locations for the presentation of the Teen Dating Violence Prevention program.
• Fosters and maintains excellent, professional working relations with staff and volunteers and functions as part of a team.
• Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of domestic violence and its impact on victims, especially children and youth.
• Knowledge of child/adolescent development; experience working with children and youth.
• Experience in prevention education and conflict resolution.
• Youth-centered, empowerment-based service coordination skills.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse groups.
• Fluent in Spanish preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
