ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Creativity Explored gives artists with developmental disabilities the means to create and share their work with the community, celebrating the power of art to change lives. CE’s first studio officially opened in 1983 with fewer than 20 artists. Since then, we have grown to serve over 130 artists at two studios in San Francisco. CE remains the only dedicated arts program of its kind in San Francisco and welcomes over 10,000 community members into our studios and gallery each year.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Creativity Explored is seeking a mission-driven professional with grant writing experience to join its development department. Creativity Explored’s Institutional Giving Coordinator position is a crucial role designed to enhance the development department’s ability to leverage new opportunities, cultivate relationships, solicit and steward institutional and government funding and maintain high standards of excellence in all external relationships and communications. 

The Institutional Giving Coordinator has primary responsibilities including prospect research, grant writing, grant reporting and institutional funder stewardship. 

KEY SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal and Report Writing 

● Collaborate with program and development team members to create compelling grant proposals, funding requests and grant reports to corporations, foundations and government agencies 

● Write and assemble most or all sections of each grant proposal and reports, with key input from development team 

● Work with relevant administrative staff to develop accurate budgets according to proposal requirements 

● Coordinate with relevant team members in order to solicit timely and appropriate input/review of grant proposals and reports prior to submission deadlines 

● Review guidelines for all institutional giving proposals and reports to make sure all submissions are accurately formatted and include all required information, including budgets and supporting materials 

● Manage government and institutional reporting 

Grants Management 

● In partnership with the Development Director, manage the grant proposal and report calendar 

● Maintain current pipeline to reflect all grant activity 

● Work with the program team to track outcomes and artist impact stories 

● Work with Development Director to manage donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategy for grants 

● Track current grant reporting cycles and renewal processes, ensuring stewardship to encourage continued funding 

Fundraising Events 

● Assists with fundraising event projects as requested 

Other Duties 

● Performs any other reasonably-related duties as requested by the Development Director 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Organizational Relationship The Institutional Giving Coordinator is expected to work productively in a team environment. 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA 

● Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred in social service, public administration, or other related field 

● One plus years of grant writing experience preferred 

● Comfort working independently and with a diverse team 

● Creative thinker and problem solver with attention to detail 

● Highly organized and motivated 

● Willingness to foster a culture of fundraising by working cooperatively with board members and staff 

● Interest, enthusiasm and affinity for Creativity Explored’s mission 

● Enthusiasm to learn from and advocate for people with developmental disabilities 

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive) required 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS 

● Complete and maintain CPR, First Aid, and OSHA certification (initial certification to be completed within 30 days of hire) 

● Complete Creativity Explored staff training pertinent to position job responsibilities as assigned 

OTHER INFORMATION

This position is an ongoing regular, part-time position with daytime Monday-Friday hours, and possible weekend hours on occasion. Schedule and number of hours will be determined during the hiring process.

Offers are subject to satisfactory Criminal Records Clearance check and proof of negative TB test results completed within the last year.
