As a Childcare Ambassador, you will serve within our ministry by showing the love of Christ and helping mothers’ and children ages 0-18 choose help.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes mothers and children to Atlanta Mission and builds trust to develop a relationship and “Choose Help”
  • Assists mothers and children with immediate needs related to their children
  • Ensures childcare facilities are clean
  • Sorts and organizes childcare donations
  • Supervises and maintains Atlanta Mission children’s clothing closet
  • Supervises mothers and children in childcare
  • Provides a safe and welcoming environment for all mothers and children in the childcare area
  • Diffuses conflicts between clients
  • Models healthy parenting skills
  • Plans and implements daily activities and special events for mothers and children 
  • Assists mothers with completing childcare applications for services at My Sisters House (MSH)
  • Communicates with children’s advocate regarding new children entering MSH childcare programs
  • Communicates with children’s social worker specialist regarding any children’s needs for counseling
  • Communicates with Community Advanced Practice Nurses (CAPN) Pediatric team and mothers regarding children’s medical care
  • Leads devotions bi-weekly
  • Explains types of children’s services offered by Atlanta Mission specifically at MSH
  • Provides transportation from Atlanta Day Shelter for clients
  • Reports legal, ethical and/or safety concerns and ensures client compliance with approved policies

Qualifications

You will possess the following:

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of related experience  
  • Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) or Associates Degree is preferred

Experience & Skills:

  • Experience working with children who have experienced homelessness or other types of trauma is preferred
  • High emotional and organizational intelligence evidenced by success over time in multiple settings
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where multitasking is constant
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter
  • Well organized, diligent and reliable in following through on commitments

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing, sitting and/or walking)
  • Must have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs
  • Must be able to distinguish, determine and detest taste or smell
  • Must have the ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator and computer printer
  • Must be able to communicate accurate information
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 100lbs
  • There are no special vision requirements
