Summary:

Welcoming America (WA) is seeking a Welcoming Communities Regional Manager will serve as the point of contact for Welcoming America’s growing local government and nonprofit membership in the Western United States. The Welcoming Communities Regional Manager will also play a central role in communications to members including crafting the Network’s quarterly member only bulletin and marketing programs. This position will work closely with the Network Director and other members of the Programs and Communications teams. 

Welcoming America is an internationally-recognized, award-winning nonprofit that is leading a movement of welcoming communities towards immigrants, refugees, and all people. We are sparking and guiding immigrant inclusion efforts across the U.S. and supporting similar efforts abroad. Welcoming America connects a broad network of 200 nonprofit and local government members and supports their efforts to develop plans, programs, and policies that transform their communities into vibrant and prosperous places where people respect each other and everyone’s talents are valued and cultivated.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Network / Program Support:

  • Support members in the Western Region including providing coaching and training on inclusion and communications strategies. Conduct ongoing outreach to potential members in the Western region. 
  • Develop and manage network programs and projects as assigned, such as developing communications training curriculum or designing technical assistance opportunities. 
  • Develop and manage relationships with partner organizations. 
  • Represent WA at internal and outside events including presenting at conferences and developing sessions and trainings.
  • Develop working familiarity with organization-wide and network-wide priorities to be positioned for special projects and to support work already underway.
  • Contribute to other Welcoming America programming and strategy development.

     

Network Related Communications:

  • Develop and execute marketing for network programs and projects such as member learning opportunities and technical assistance programs. 
  • Develop the quarterly member-only bulletin.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for engaging the Network in and deploying learning from the 2020 Ad Council campaign in partnership with other key staff.
  • Gather and promote success stories and promising practices from members.
  • Communicate about the impact of the network to members and other audiences including providing content for donor and general newsletters. 
  • Serve as point of contact for membership information for Communications.
  • As needed, support the development of tools, collateral, and rapid response communication that is relevant to members.  

 

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes 

  • Communications and/or marketing experience
  • Project management and program coordination experience.
  • Experience working in, or with, local governments and/or nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience working on issues relevant to immigrants and refugees and/or other traditionally marginalized populations. 
  • Success working with networks and/or relationship building.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; personable and welcoming personality.
  • Team-player; able to plan and implement collaborative work that requires individual responsibility.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Multilingual skills are a plus.

     

Experience

At least three years of professional experience in nonprofit, local government, communications, project management or network building related work.
