Reports to: Director of Major Gifts

Position Description: The Major Gifts Associate supports the Director of Major Gifts in building the major gifts program in fulfillment of the current capital campaign. The Associate also works with the Director in developing a comprehensive stewardship program for endowment and leadership donors. The Associate collaborates closely with Advancement colleagues, as well as volunteer leadership, as they grow and cultivate a culture of leadership philanthropy among Crossroads parents, alumni and friends.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of Major Gifts by managing data and independently generating prospect tracking reports and other routine and special reports, correspondence, agendas and other development-related documents
  • Performs essential administrative duties for the Director, including answering telephone calls, scheduling appointments, proofreading acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders and general office duties.
  • Working with the Director, develop a comprehensive stewardship plan for new and existing donors, including writing annual reports to endowment fund donors
  • In coordination with Director of Advancement and Director of Major Gifts develop and manage a system to track naming opportunities and manage creation, tracking and updating of donor recognition plaques
  • Assist with prospect research
  • Write all Major Gift proposals
  • Proof donor lists for the annual report of giving
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-3 years of development experience preferred; background in independent schools preferred
  • Strong organization and communications skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Excellent editing ability and attention to detail for written communications and data accuracy
  • Computer proficiency with strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word, Excel
  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and work effectively with parents, faculty and staff with tact and professionalism, in person, on the phone and via email
  • Occasional night and weekends required
