We have served our community since our formation as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 1984. We also operate a community drop-off recycling facility. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Programs and Events Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: 35-40 hours/week
Overview: The Program and Events Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the execution & management of events and programs, as well as volunteer management. We are seeking a candidate who is highly organized and detail oriented with keen time management and multi-tasking skills.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the following tasks, along with a wide, diverse, and evolving array of other duties as assigned:
Responsible for planning and coordinating our community outreach programs, including:
- Maintaining environmental educational resource materials for schools and the public, including updating and purchasing of new materials
- Logistical support including securing venue, presenter, marketing, materials, etc. for community workshops on a variety of environmental topics, such as composting, conservation of natural resources, and beautification
- Scheduling and hosting tours of recycling center for school groups and other organizations
- Serve as communication liaison for the Adopt A Stream program, including assistance with supply inventories and with scheduling of trainings and workshops
- Managing volunteer activities
Responsible for managing programs within established budget
Responsible for logistics of events conducted by KNFB, including:
- Working closely with Executive Director to organize recycling events in the Cities of Sandy Springs and Johns Creek
- Coordinating vendors for events
- Recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers for events
- Securing venues for events
- Helping staff events (requires occasional Saturdays)
- Documenting and maintaining detailed records and reports on each event
- Conducting follow up, such as thank you notes, clean up, replenishing supplies, etc.
- Other event related duties as assigned
Responsible for Adopt-A-Road(AAR) program:
- Updating records and documentation for existing AAR organizations
- Expanding program to new groups
- Maintaining records of activities for all AAR events for reporting purposes
- Ordering and maintaining records of all signs and contracts related to AAR program
Responsible for maintaining event and activity documentation for reporting purposes:
- Entering accurate and complete data for each event and activity, including volunteers, participants, items recycled, and other waste reduction/beautification/litter prevention activities, and other metrics
We are a small organization, and each employee must be flexible and be prepared to take on a multitude of tasks as needed. As such, the Programs and Events Coordinator might occasionally be called upon to assist with activities at our recycling center, such as answer the phone, respond to customer inquiries, or supervise volunteers or court ordered community service workers.
Qualifications and Skills
Qualifications:
- Event management & volunteer management experience
- Able to work occasional weekends
- Exceptionally, obsessively detail oriented and organized
- Excellent computer skills, including word processing, internet, email, and Excel
- Knowledge and dedication to environmental issues and solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work well with a diverse population of people from a variety of backgrounds and abilities
- Must have own, reliable vehicle and have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
