GRANT WRITER HIP Housing (Human Investment Project) Is This Your Dream Job? Reporting to the Director of Development, you will be identifying, researching and pursuing potential grant opportunities available to fund HIP Housing’s innovative housing programs. You will also get a chance to work on other important development functions including major donor cultivation and events. You will be working full-time (37.5 hours a week) with the best, most collaborative fundraising team in San Mateo County. And the best part? You will get to set your own schedule and take every other Friday off!

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Has exceptional writing skills and excellent people skills
  • Has the ability to write organized and compelling funding proposals
  • Has experience writing grants OR writing professionally in an academic setting
  • Possesses knowledge of fundraising methods
  • Committed to promote HIP Housing’s mission
  • Is deadline-driven and has strong attention to detail
  • Has the ability to manage a diverse grant portfolio and project priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Has a communication and project management style that is flexible and fosters team relationships
  • Strong research skills, especially in identifying funds for nonprofits, developing proposals, and tracking required statistics for reporting purposes
  • Has a bachelor’s degree (preferred) and is proficient with MSOffice, MSWord, and Excel
  • Can lift up to 30 lbs.

How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Writing killer grant proposals and reports
  • Cultivating a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funders
  • Updating Foundation Relations reports and working with the Director of Development on monitoring grant guidelines and deadlines
  • Developing acknowledgement letters and heartwarming thank you notes
  • Researching, compiling, and analyzing program data as needed for grants
  • Researching local newspapers and other publications, including Internet news, and note significant philanthropic activities
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of foundation and corporate guidelines
  • Performing research to identify suitable funding prospects
