For 37 years, NWSDHH has been a leader in education for children with hearing loss. Located in Shoreline, WA, we believe when families and children have the right support, deaf and hard-of-hearing (D/HH) learners are set up to succeed in school and throughout life. Our mission focuses on: grade-level achievement; English proficiency; and oral communication and listening skills. We are committed to helping D/HH children become self-confident, academically competitive learners, and engaged community members. Our educational programs include: birth to three, preschool – eighth grade and school district support.

Our Family Conversations program serves families with children from birth to age three. We offer a total communication approach which integrates Signing Exact English (S.E.E.), speaking and listening. The children we serve have a variety of hearing levels. We work with families from the first moment a child is identified as having hearing loss all the way through their first three years of life.

Company

For 35 years, Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children (NWSDHH) has prepared students for academic and professional achievement. We work with children to develop the confidence and communication skills to become engaged members of society. For the children we serve, deafness is a difference, not a disability! Located in the Seattle area, NWSDHH’s preschool – middle school has the distinction of being one of the few deaf education programs whose research-based methods have been shown to dramatically improve academic and social outcomes for deaf and hard-of-hearing children. In recent years, we have also grown our other educational programs including School District Support, Spanish Speaking Families and Family Conversations, our Birth to Three program.
