GUIDE is a respected community-based substance abuse prevention agency that has been serving Gwinnett County since 1986 and the metro-Atlanta area and entire state of Georgia since 1989. There is a supportive team environment within the close and casual office.

This position reports to the Associate Executive Director for Prevention and works closely with community partners to implement community-level change strategies (environmental strategies), particularly to reduce and prevent underage drinking. These strategies include things like policy change, public awareness campaigns, new or modified programs, practices and policies that affect an entire community. This position requires overnight, out-of-town travel (25-35%) and some weekend and evening work that varies from year to year. During the summer, however, the Program Coordinator will be required to staff two weeks of Georgia Teen Institute, which requires being on-site at a remote location for 24 hours a day. The ability to work at Georgia Teen Institute and other outof-town assignments, with overnight stays, and to work on evenings and weekends throughout the year is non-negotiable.

Job Responsibilities include:

• Oversees and coordinates multiple underage drinking prevention contracts, focusing on accomplishing the specific deliverables of each contract;

• Participates in the management and maintenance of prevention grant/contract budgets;

• Plans and implements evidence-based strategies to reduce retail and social availability of alcohol to minors in the community as outlined in grants/contracts;

• Plans and implements evidence-based strategies identified in the Coalition for Health and Human Services substance abuse prevention goals overseen by GUIDE;

• Works closely with local Police Departments and Gwinnett County officials;

• Manages the GUIDE Prevention Advisory Board (GPAB) underage drinking prevention workgroup including recruiting members, holding monthly meetings, capturing minutes and other necessary management;

• Gathers and tracks all prevention-related results, developing analytical summaries to evaluate progress and success of our strategies;

• Manages, supports and serves as coordinator of GUIDE’s Youth Advisory Board to include recruitment, meetings, events and other necessary duties;

• Manages GUIDE’s annual Red Ribbon Week campaign;

• Supervises volunteers and/or interns on short- and long-term projects;

• Develops new collaborations with local government officials and key community stakeholders to address the underage drinking issues in our community;

• Attends City Council meetings and networks with key stakeholders and agencies in Gwinnett to leverage GUIDE’s prevention initiatives to expand its community impact;

• Submits monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including any special reports defined by contracts/grants;

•Attends the Georgia Teen Institute (GTI) and takes an active leadership role focusing on prevention and support of GTI leadership;

• Generates and supports the creation of prevention social media content for multiple platforms including blog writing and securing guest bloggers;

• Represents GUIDE on various local and statewide committees and task forces;

• Attends community events and supports GUIDE’s community partners;

• Participates in and supporting all fundraising efforts for GUIDE;

• Other duties as assigned.

Other GUIDE responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Participates in staff meetings and Board of Directors’ meetings;

• Participates in development of annual and program budgets, grant/contract proposals and annual and other reports;

• Actively and immediately seeks out and participates in training requirements necessary to apply for prevention credentialing and/or continues to participate in training requirements necessary to retain prevention credentialing.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, health promotion or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in the substance abuse prevention field or in a field closely related to youth development, education, health, wellness or safety; a Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience

• Experience in substance abuse prevention required; experience in youth development, public speaking, group and/or workshop facilitation, grant writing, desktop publishing, program development and/or social media platforms preferred

• Must have experience in developing and overseeing a budget

• Must have excellent oral and written communications skills

• Computer experience with Microsoft Office Suite is essential, especially Word, Excel and PowerPointMust be able to multi-task and work independently

• Must have experience in collaboration and community work

• Must have own, reliable transportation and a Georgia driver’s license

• Must be able to accommodate out-of-town, overnight assignments for up to a week at a time

This position requires the use of reliable transportation, access to a cell phone and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. This position will require a criminal background check and E-Verify. Employee will be considered on probationary status until the process of both is satisfactorily completed
