Executive Director

We are a growing nonprofit seeking an Executive Director to oversee all operations, functions, and activities within our organization. The ideal candidate will have the skills and confidence needed to be the face of the organization, shouldering the responsibility of providing strategic direction and implementing a progressive vision for the future. We believe that an excellent Executive Director is one who can influence and inspire—s/he is able to awaken in others the desire to lead, motivate, and create a culture that will energize our partners and those who we serve in the community. Applicants should have strong communication skills and take a holistic approach to organizational management/oversight of operations. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Job Functions

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall management for the activities of Rebuilding Together Atlanta including supervision of all RTA contractors. The ED implements the strategic goals and objectives of the organization, directs and oversees the delivery of Rebuilding Together Atlanta mission. The ED should have a strong passion for the Rebuilding Together mission, be able to communicate that passion with vision to help secure corporate and foundation funding to help meet annual budget goals.

Working Relationships

  • Reports To: Board of Directors
  • Direct Reports: Program Manager, Program Coordinator and Bookkeeper/Accountant  

Job Responsibilities Include:

Fundraising & Development

  • Support the Board/Board Committees in corporate and individual fund raising
  • Make presentations to potential major gift individuals and institutional funders
  • Secure in-kind gifts and benefits from service providers for rebuilds
  • Cultivate new sources of corporate and individual giving
  • Write grants and reports to foundations
  • Develop special events to raise funds and build community
  • Grow social-media and other online source presence
  • Coordinate sponsorships/partnerships with RT National

 Management & Community Relations

  • Direct and oversee all RTA programs and activities
  • Engage Board/Board committees members in the mission and work of RTA, including developing and carrying out strategic initiatives
  • Develop and recommend the annual operating budget to the Board
  • Monitor expenses within the annual budget and to meet funder obligations
  • Serve as the lead spokesperson for RTA, developing and coordinating public  awareness, visibility, and brand enhancing activities
  • Work with current and potential student teams/projects.
  • Coordinate dues, insurance, and other administration with RT National
  • Set priorities for and support the work of staff and independent contractors in administration, volunteer development and operations
  • Supervise and support contractors in the execution of their work

Program

  • Organize the homeowner/community agency selection process
  • Recruit skilled volunteers in conjunction with the Operations Coordinator
  • Develop and maintain relationships with House Management Teams and other current and potential volunteer groups
  • Lead any partnership with other coalitions
  • Cultivate community partnerships
  • Develop new programs/services for homeowners and neighborhoods

Qualifications

  • Non-profit management or comparable experience
  • Bachelors' degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Proven ability to attract, mentor and retain a strong and diverse staff
  • Proven success in raising funds from corporations, individuals, and foundations
  • Proven experience in public relations, communications or marketing
  • Proven capacity to influence, appeal to and work in collaboration with partner organizations and diverse constituents

Work Environment

  • Full-Time (commensurate with experience); typically 40 hours per week – may work more around peak times, volunteer projects, events, and deadlines.
  • Able to work flexible hours, some evenings or weekends
  • Experienced driver with current license
