Job Details
Site Director (Part Time)
LaAmistad Site Directors are the key primary staff member responsible for supporting afterschool program locations for the organization. Site Directors are primarily responsible for instructing students in an after-school, classroom setting using volunteers as tutors.
Responsibilities
Teach children literacy and math skills, assist them with developing interpersonal skills or help them improve their overall academic performance. This may include assisting students with completing assigned homework.
Work with leadership staff to develop an appropriate curriculum and plan educational activities that are consistent with the mission of the program
Evaluate curriculum according to the needs and interests of the students, parents and organizational priorities and adjust if necessary
Effectively attract and retain students through enthusiasm, teaching skill and patience
Manage evaluation and assessment procedures specified by leadership staff
Track the progress of the location and individual students and provide regular reports to parents, schools and LaAmistad
Responsible for the recruitment, placement and support of volunteers
Ensure safety and security for children enrolled
Schedule and deliver parent conferences
Meet with parents, church groups, community groups and schools representatives to discuss the program and its benefits
Seek feedback on how the organization can better serve the students
Manage other program staff and promote the professional growth and development of staff
Qualifications
B.S. degree in early childhood education or related field required with state certifications
Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 5-11
First Aid/CPR training
Ability to command respect and cooperation in an elementary classroom
Confidence to run a classroom alone
Ability to build relationships with volunteers, families and staff and create a dynamic environment for students to learn and thrive
Desired Skills and Attributes
Fluency in Spanish and English (writing, listening, and speaking) Optional
Accountability
The Site Director is hired by Executive Director on the recommendation of the Afterschool Director. The Site Director reports directly to the Afterschool Director who is responsible for his or her performance evaluations.
Compensation
The specific amount is based on qualifications. This position works part-time through the months of September through May with a range of 6-10 hours per week, Monday and Wednesday. This position also requires occasional night and weekends.
