Position SummaryThe Paralegal supports Atlanta Habitat’s mission by coordinating or supporting the legal issues related to the Repair with Kindness Program and property acquisitions.


Key Responsibilities: 

The Paralegal is responsible for:

  • Coordinating the mortgage closing and post-closing process for the Repair with Kindness Program.
  • Coordinating property acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Assisting with the mortgage closing and post-closing process for the Homeownership Program, as needed.

Qualified candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Paralegal certification preferred, notary certification required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with real estate issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must interact well with homebuyers, city agencies, courts, outside counsel, and Atlanta Habitat staff.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and Access). 
  • Database management skills required.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.  
  • Able to meet deadlines and pay attention to details.

The position is classified as non-exempt part-time with a commitment of no more than 20 hours per week.  Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Work will be performed during office hours according to a schedule approved by the Family Services Senior Manager & Legal Counsel.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.  Limited benefits, including paid leave and participation in the Employee Voluntary Retirement 403(b) Plan are offered.
