Position Type
Board Member, Volunteer

As Washington state’s only organization focused solely on pedestrian advocacy, Feet First bears a tremendous responsibility for the well-being of individuals wishing to experience the world by foot. We promote walkable, safe, accessible communities.

Feet First is looking to grow its leadership by bringing on additional members of its board of directors. If you are passionate about walking, physical activity, and advocacy at the state and local level we would welcome the opportunity to talk to you! We are interested in board members of all backgrounds, however we have specific needs for leaders who can:

·      Take charge of our communications and social media strategy and more closely integrate our webpage, Facebook, and Twitter feeds with some of the legislative advocacy work we do

·      Take the lead in overseeing some of our program and grant work. Feet First is partnering with the Washington State Department of Health and Arthritis Foundation to scope out and implement walking programs throughout the state to help combat arthritis in elderly populations. We would like a board member willing to oversee and mentor our staff for this project.

·      Plan our statewide “Walkable Washington” event, which is a statewide forum for walkability issues.

·      Fundraising/development and legal backgrounds are also desired for a wide range of projects.

If you are interested, please feel free to send an email to with a little bit about yourself and why you think you would be a good board candidate.
