The Partnership on AI is seeking a Human Resources Manager focused on topics related to Human Resources, Diversity, Culture, and Belonging. We are driving a period of rapid staff growth and need an experienced individual to take ownership of all HR matters across the company, including recruitment, performance management, disciplinary action, benefits management, and learning and development. We seek an experienced individual who can design and execute a people strategy for PAI, including hiring and retaining top talent.

 

 

 

To perform well in this role you should have experience as an HR Manager, or other senior roles on HR teams, and have knowledge around all related legal requirements. The Human Resources Manager reports to PAI’s Chief Operating Officer.

 

 

 

Responsibilities include:

 

 

 

Recruitment and Hiring:

 

  • Support hiring managers by managing the recruitment, screening and selection process of candidates

     

    Implement and oversee the organization’s policies related to diversity, belonging, and inclusion

     

    Maintain smooth onboarding and offboarding processes for full-time employees, fellows and contractors

     

    Manage, in conjunction with outside counsel, visa requirements and sponsorship processes for non-U.S. staff

     

 

 

Employee Support:

 

  • Develop programs to train and coach staff, including systems to conduct performance and compensation reviews

     

    Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and (as needed) discipline employees

     

  • Help develop formal and informal employee mentorship programs, including avenues for staff growth and advancement

     

    Offer support to employees, ensure employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health

     

 

 

HR Systems, Benefits and Compliance:

 

  • Ensure that PAI offers industry leading benefits that attract and retain top talent

     

    Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal, state and local requirements

     

    Maintain employee benefits programs including managing PAI’s PEO provider

     

    Handle workplace investigations, disciplinary and termination procedures

     

    Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures

     

    Manage HR systems and update human resource and financial policies and employee handbook based on new and emerging trends, best practices and legal updates

     

Other:

 

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies related to human resource operations

     

    Various limited finance and administrative duties through supporting colleagues on PAI’s operations team

     

  • Assist the COO in HR related budget matters

     

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or equivalent experience

     

    5+ years experience in human resources, personnel management or a related field

     

    Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues

     

    Experience in educating and coaching staff

     

    Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations

     

    Knowledge of relevant health and safety laws

     

    Experience upholding a strict level of confidentiality

     

    Ability to work both independently and within a team

     

    Demonstrated experience in implementing diversity strategies
