Buckelew Programs helps people in Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties with mental health, addiction, and related behavioral health challenges lead healthier, more independent lives, strengthening families and communities in the process. Founded in 1970, Buckelew Programs provides a wide range of services for nearly 10,000 adults and children each year. 

We are currently looking for Mental Health Counselors to join our dedicated team at Casa Rene, a voluntary short-term crisis residential program in a home-like setting in Kentfield in Marin County. At Casa Rene, individuals can stay in their own community and stabilize during a time of crisis. Staff engage and collaborate with each client to create a personalized treatment plan which includes the client’s care team. These teams are often comprised of family members, psychiatrists, case managers, nurse practitioners, doctors, peer providers, counselors and friends. 

Mental Health Counselors work with adults with persistent mental illness, provide basic care and supervision; teach fundamental living and social and stabilization skills. Further, they ensure operations of the house; such as cooking, cleaning and maintaining supplies and provide assistance with medication inventory; scheduling client appointments, and transporting clients. 

There are two shifts available, one which is 40 hours per week, Saturday-Wednesday, 4pm-12am, and the other is 32 hours per week, Thursday - Sunday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Both positions come with full benefits. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, or Psychiatric Technician’s License; or Registered Nurse or equivalent experience. 
  • Four or more years of experience in a mental health agency, at least two of which is in direct service, and the remainder, including some administrative or planning responsibilities.
  • The ability to relate well with others, to balance many tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, to be empathetic, warm, consistent and supportive with clients. 
  • Requires computer and keyboarding skills as well as good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team and to share information with those on other shifts. 
  • Must have valid California drivers’ license and personal automobile for use on the job.
  • Must be able to pass Live Scan, Office of Criminal Justice and Department of Social Services clearances.

Capable of the following intermittent activities: stretching, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, reaching above and below the shoulder, pushing, pulling, grasping and lifting up to 40 pounds in weight. Physically capable of the following intermittent activities: walking, driving, writing, standing and sitting.
