The Director of Annual Giving and Parent Engagement provides leadership for CCA's Annual Giving program by developing and implementing a range of effective solicitation strategies, with particular attention to increased alumni and parent giving. CCA is embarking on a major institution-wide campaign that will significantly strengthen the college in exciting ways. The Director will play a leadership role in planning for and realizing campaign giving for individual donors. This position will develop comprehensive strategies to maximize individual donor gifts with responsibility for increasing the number and size of gifts under $10,000 from alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the college. The Director will also implement and leverage compelling programs that engage parents in the life of the college to encourage philanthropic support for CCA; facilitate parent volunteer opportunities that strengthen connections with students and that support career services and enrollment goals; and serve parents through an active communication program that keeps them apprised of evolving plans college-wide.REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Individual Giving

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning and Implementation

 

• Creates and executes comprehensive Annual Giving strategic plan with the goal of growing the number of donors and all gifts under $10,000.

• Develops strategies to increase fundraising success through, direct mail, digital and online solicitations, crowdfunding and personal meetings.

 

• Develops Annual Giving goals for all constituent groups and sets long-term benchmarks for success. Is responsible for meeting annual income goals.

 

• Develops and deploys well-targeted solicitations that maximize response rates and giving. Plans and administers robust direct mail and online efforts for donor acquisition, renewal and upgrades.

 

• In collaboration with Advancement Services, creates reports that measure the effectiveness and progress of the Annual Giving program. Provides regular analysis and status reports to department leadership.

 

• Responsible for the development of parent giving volunteer group to help maximize involvement and contributions.

 

• Assembles metrics to evaluate parent event and program outcomes. Involves key faculty, staff and trustees to maximum benefit.

 

• Cultivates active and meaningful contact with parents through one-on-one meetings, on-campus events and external gatherings, personal visits, email blasts, and printed publications.

 

• Works with major gift staff to identify and cultivate parent donor prospects by sharing information gleaned through meetings, research, and faculty recommendations. Works with Advancement Services to mine useful data on parents for database.

 

Communications

 

• In collaboration with the Communications office, develops annual marketing and communications strategy for the Annual Giving program.

 

• Writes compelling copy for donor proposals, case statements, brochures, direct mail, invitations, videos, e-newsletters, and other correspondence.

 

• Ensures written materials are accurate, articulate, targeted, and well-reasoned. Serves as the project leader with Communications staff and external vendors to produce Annual Giving pieces.

 

• Responsible for CCA's Individual Giving web pages updates; develops Annual Fund ads for CCA's college magazine, Glance.

 

Events

 

• Plans and implements creative and impactful events and engagement experiences for local, regional and international parents that align with the overall goals of the department. Works closely with vendors and facilities staff.

 

• Works in partnership with the Events Manager to ensure events fulfill their goals in cultivating and stewarding individual donors.

 

• Attends Advancement and other CCA events as appropriate, to establish rapport with donors and prospects.

 

Special Giving and Stewardship Programs

 

• Manages a portfolio of 20-30 individual donor prospects to solicit for gifts between $1,000 to $10,000 in support of student scholarships, the Fund for CCA, and other initiatives. Conducts a minimum of 20 in-person meetings a year.

 

• Works closely with the Senior Director of Individual Giving and the Prospect Research Manager to identify individual prospects; develops corresponding moves management plan.

 

• Leads graduates of the last ten years giving program and the faculty/staff giving campaign.

 

• With Alumni Engagement staff, develops and executes alumni event solicitation strategy utilizing volunteers, direct mail, and social media.

 

• Plans and implements stewardship programs that acknowledge donors at various times of the year.

 

Other Duties

 

• In conjunction with the Senior Director of Advancement Services, designs and implements timely and effective acknowledgement processes for annual donors.

 

• Supports the maintenance of database and hard files for individual donors and prospects with contact reports and relevant research data.

 

• Works in partnership with gift processing staff to ensure that gifts are coded correctly and donors are appropriately stewarded.

 

• Some local/regional travel may be required.

 

• Performs additional duties as required.

 

Bachelor's degree and five or more years of direct fundraising and management experience, preferably within an educational institution. Must be energetic, creative, and resourceful, and demonstrate initiative in seeking increased contributions. Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage prospective donors in-person and in writing through articulate, compelling, and well-reasoned solicitations. Proven track record of personally closing individual gifts ranging from $1,000 to $10,000+. Experience planning donor cultivation and stewardship events. Experience working in a college environment with alumni and parent constituencies a plus. Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to work on deadline and manage multiple assignments at once. Strong analytical and budgeting skills. Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and mentoring skills, including the ability to work well with staff, trustees, faculty, and volunteers. A proven record of working independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and ability to compromise to achieve goals in tandem with project partners. Supervisory experience required. PC proficiency (MS Office Suite in Mac environment); facility w/ Word and Excel required. Work with fundraising database software required, Raiser's Edge preferred.
