This position is responsible for providing daily educational and/or health education enrichment to Boys & Girls Clubs’ members located throughout Georgia, sharing experience and volunteer opportunities, and site visit support under the direct supervision and direction of the Program Director and Site Supervisor(s). Member Term is from September 15, 2019- September 14, 2020.

 

  • Provide direct educational and/or healthy choices programs to children and youth, ages 6-14 years, after school and during summer.
  • Coordinate with local schools to obtain data about the number of minutes of physical activities students receive at school and survey parents to obtain physical activity level at home for baseline data.
  • Administer Pre and Post Test on Club youth to compare baseline levels with achievement post participation.
  • Provide homework help and education enrichment related to improving literacy and Math with a focus on high yield STEM activities for at-risk youth, ages 6-14, currently enrolled in Clubs.
  • Coordinate with Club & Program Directors to identify youth who need targeted homework help in literacy and math related subjects.
  • Promote healthy habits in at-risk youth, ages 6-14, by conducting sports and physical fitness activities for 30-45 minutes per day for a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Implement programming about healthy food choices for 30 minutes at least once per week and offer healthy nutritious free meals or snacks (snacks and/or suppers - school year and snacks, lunches and/or breakfasts - summer) daily to ensure food security
  • Attend AmeriCorps sponsored trainings, staff meetings and events.
  • Create awareness of AmeriCorps vision and work by wearing AmeriCorps gear during all service activities.
  • Follow all AmeriCorps and assigned site Policies and Procedures.
