Legal Advocate (Part-Time)

liveSAFE Resources is a dual domestic violence and sexual assault center located in Marietta, GA. Our mission is to provide safety and healing to those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse by offering services, creating awareness and fostering support within our community.

The Part-Time Legal Advocate position is based at the Temporary Protective Order Office within the Cobb County Courthouse 3 days a week (24 hours). 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Assisting Petitioners with understanding and filling out legal forms as they pertain to Temporary Protective Orders

- Accompanying Petitioners to court and preparing them for what to expect at a hearing

- Keeping records and entering statistical data into an internal tracking system

- Participating in multi-agency coalitions and community initiatives related to domestic violence and sexual assault

- Providing information and referrals, as well as assistance with safety planning, to persons in crisis

-  Other duties as assigned by the Legal Advocacy Program Manager

Requirements: 

- Bachelor’s Degree  in Criminal Justice or legal field, or two years minimum experience in related field  

- Knowledge of working with Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking victims preferred 

- Must be punctual and reliable as working within the court system requires consistency and timeliness

- Strong verbal and written communication skills are important in this role and a writing sample will be requested by applicants who are interviewed 

- Ability to work with diverse staff and clients, as well as with community partners such as law enforcement, attorneys, and judges

- Attention to detail and the ability to learn and adhere to office and court procedures 

- Spanish-speaking preferred but not required
