About CPD + CPDA

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with more than 45 partner organizations in more than 38 states, Puerto Rico, and D.C., and build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.

About the Position:

The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action (CPD/CPDA)  is seeking a National Canvass Strategist with experience working with large-scale canvass programs to join us as we launch a new, game-changing, national canvass program in partnership with CPD partner organizations in multiple cities throughout the country. These individuals will work closely with our canvass and field organizing programs as they build membership and raise money for community organizations building power in low-income communities of color, and be on the forefront of piloting new strategies and techniques in grassroots organizing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who seeks to create social change, revolutionize how nonprofits raise money and win campaigns.

Primary Responsibilities

The National Canvass Strategist will:

This includes embedding with our field programs to observe our field teams in action and working with Membership Drive and our Base Building team to analyze statistics.

  • Assist in the Design of Field Experiments: Utilizing our canvass analysis to help us design experiments for our field programs, such as message testing, comparing site-based field models, and testing various forms of follow-up engagement.

  • Generate Internal and External Reports: Working with our National Sustainability Initiative Director, our Research Team, and our Communications Team to generate reports presenting the findings of our analysis and results of experimentations, both internally for senior leadership and externally for funders, allies, and media.

  • Developing Training Materials: Working with the National Sustainability Team to utilize our research and analysis to develop a stronger training curriculum for our field canvass programs.

  • Transform Social Change: Be part of a team where your voice, and your ideas, matter and make a difference. Join our team on the ground floor to contribute new ideas, test new methods of fundraising and mobilization, and help change how social change happens in America;

Job Requirements:

We are seeking a seasoned leader and organizer with strong references who is interested in growing the canvass operation into a credible powerhouse for fundraising, member engagement and mobilization. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of fundraising and/or membership canvassing experience. Candidates should also have:

  • A demonstrated commitment to social justice, strong analysis of systemic oppression based on race, class, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, and an understanding of challenges facing immigrant communities, communities of color, and low-and moderate-income families;

  • Excellent organizational skills and good attention to detail;

  • A high level of self-motivation and a proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively;

  • Ability to work well with diverse groups and populations;

  • Dedication and ability to work flexible hours;

  • Capacity to engage and inspire a variety of audiences

  • Willingness and ability to relocate and/or travel for these positions
