Our work is centered on the individual and the provision of quality services that best support each person.   Our Supported Employment services assist individuals to secure a good job that matches their abilities, interests, availability and area of Atlanta. Once individuals are employed, we support them for the life of that job: training and retraining, problem solving and coaching them to be the best employees they can be.  

Position Description  

  The Supported Employment Specialist helps individuals with developmental disabilities to find and keep employment in their community. This includes job development, skills training, and follow-along job coaching as needed.  The Specialist serves as a valuable member of our team supporting the individuals with making plans and achieving their goals.  This team member must build working relationships with a broad range of employers and coworkers, at many different kinds of job sites, to facilitate natural supports for the individual being served. The PMP job coaches are supervised by the Specialist.

Qualifications  

  Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation or related field, or equivalent knowledge and experience. Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities in a supported employment program preferred. Valid Georgia Driver’s License, dependable transportation, satisfactory driving record, criminal background check, and drug screen required.  

Other Desired Qualifications

-Comfort working with employers and supporting individuals at a wide range of tasks, from taking out the trash to working in an office.  Experience building relationships with employers and understanding their needs. 

-Must be well-organized and able to coordinate appointments and paperwork. Proficient computer skills needed to fill out applications, search for jobs online, and communicate by email

-Ability to independently track items needing follow-up and take appropriate steps.  Experience prioritizing in a fast-paced environment, and escalating/asking for help when needed

-Creativity in problem solving

-Experience in teaching, coaching or training others.  Patience and compassion for the individuals, families, and employers we serve

-Curiosity and willingness to learn new things
