GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Warrior Alliance (TWA) is a Georgia based 501c3 non-profit organization that serves as Georgia’s ‘backbone’ organization to connect veterans and their families to the services they need.  Our unique collaboration model engages veterans through a high touch, high technology approach and coordinates their care via a seamless integrated services network.  This combination works to simplify, accelerate, and streamline the process for veterans seeking help in all areas relating to transitioning from military service back into their communities.

The veteran demand for TWA’s services is growing and interest from companies seeking to become part of our business model is on the rise.  Our strategic plan calls for serving over 5000 Georgia veterans by 2021 and working to maximize veteran experience, satisfaction and outcomes through collective impact.

The Warrior Alliance seeks a full time Development Director to lead all aspects of  TWA’s private fundraising plan. The Development Director will report directly to the Executive Director and will work closely with the staff leadership team as well as the volunteer board and development committee. The Development Director will be an important members of the Leadership Team.

The Director of Development will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills and an ability to build and implement a comprehensive, results-oriented development plan. Key components of this plan will include strategies, goals and timelines for our annual operational fundraising as well as a current capital project in Augusta, Georgia, and pending special projects.

As a key organizational leader for TWA, the Director of Development exhibits strengths in cultivating new relationships and investors at a local and national level. This individual is capable of speaking in public forums about TWA and is savvy at driving revenue opportunities at all levels of corporate and philanthropic management. 

PRIMARY ROLE:

·         Develop and implement a short and long-term Development plan to meet established development goals and objectives of the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, strategic initiatives for securing annual operational funds as well as capital dollars.

·         Research prospects, write grants and build relationships with foundation and corporate donors.

·         Build an individual donor program that includes gaining support from major donors and board members as well as community members.

·         Clearly articulate and promote a strong case of need for philanthropy and build opportunities to create and sustain a culture of giving.

·         Oversee all gift processing and donor acknowledgement, the donor database, and financial reporting.

·         Attend The Warrior Alliance events and activities and fosters significant pride and excitement for fundraising efforts.

·         Other duties as assigned

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•     Embrace the mission and strategic priorities of The Warrior Alliance; Uphold and model TWA’s core values and operating principles

•     Work closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Marketing to develop and position annual giving goals and priorities consistent with the TWA’s operating needs

•      Think strategically, creating competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans locally and organization-wide

•     Create a strong fundraising message that appeals to potential donors and work collaboratively with the marketing team to integrate messages in publications, grant submissions, reports, and collateral materials for cultivating and stewarding donors.

•      Organize fundraising events when applicable.

•     Lead the TWA development committee by working collaboratively to develop strong solicitation, engagement, and stewardship programs for key constituencies

•     Design and manage an integrated, multi-channel strategy of programs that engage donors and ultimately move them into personal, relationship-based development efforts

•     Enhance the annual giving team’s use of digital marketing (email, websites, social media) and analytics to improve segmentation and messaging and to create a personal and positive experience for donors

•      Train volunteers in fundraising procedures and practices

•      Ensure that all legal reporting requirements are satisfied

•     Effectively communicate with both TWA leadership and volunteer leadership (including the Board of Directors and Development Committee) regarding strategies and progress.

•     In close collaboration with the Executive Director, establish and monitor portfolio management metrics for self and members of the annual giving team.

•     Cultivate a professional network of colleagues at other veteran service organizations to serve as a resource for new ideas.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in business development and fundraising or related field and at least 5 years of experience. 

•     Well-developed strategic, critical, and problem-solving skills

•     Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, confidentiality, and judgement

•     Interest and competence to interact with a diversity of accomplished individuals

•     Team player with a positive attitude, proactive approach, customer-service mindset, and ability to motivate

•     Excellent project management skills - ability to take lead on multi-functional projects, manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities and competing demands, and adapt to frequent and unexpected changes

•     Strong attention to detail and able to develop, implement, and analyze strategies with minimal oversight

•     Strong communication skills (written, oral, and presentation) to effectively communicate.

•     High degree of competency with Salesforce and related tools required for the position.

•     Active engagement in professional development and current on best practices.

•     Ability to present and sell to all levels of senior and executive management.
