Job Description Summary:

 

The Ohlone College Tri-cities Career Center (Career Center) is an innovative organization that provides career services to students and community members. The Career Center integrates services and resources provided by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA ) with higher education career development models and serves high school students, adult education students, community college students, college/university graduates, community job seekers, dislocated workers, under represented populations (disadvantaged adults, veterans, people with disabilities, re-entry, low-income, etc.) and employers.

 

The Career Center also serves as the Alameda County Small Business Development Center (ACSBDC ). The ACSBDC integrates services and resources provided by the U.S. Small Business Development Administration (SBA ) to serve small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. The integration between education, workforce, and economic development makes Ohlone College an exciting, innovative, and cutting-edge institution of higher education.

 

The Employer & Entrepreneurship Advisor (EEA ) serves as an active member of the Career Center and ACSBDC team. The EEA conducts outreach to employers and businesses to provide support to develop jobs and internships for students, alumni, and community members. The EEA develops talent acquisition strategies, coordinates entrepreneurship and recruiting events, and establishes and maintains small business, corporate, government, and non-profit relationships. The EEA connects students/alumni and community job seekers to jobs and internships while connecting businesses to advising and education opportunities to support business and entrepreneurship needs. The EEA connects employers and aspiring entrepreneurs to services and resources to help support the development, maintenance, and growth of employers and business organizations. The EEA represents Ohlone College in the community and abroad and is an innovative and strategic professional serving as a liaison between aspiring entrepreneurs, employers, and Ohlone College.

Essential Duties:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

• Conducts outreach in-person and online utilizing current marketing tools that include social media and mobile communications to identify and attract employers, aspiring entrepreneurs, businesses, students/alumni, and community job seekers.

• Cultivates new programming and strategies to support employer talent acquisition, business advising, and training.

• Provides business consultations and workshops.

• Develops and implements employer and entrepreneur engagement activities throughout the year that may include employer and business orientations, employer tabling, 1:1 business advising, information sessions, business education & training opportunities, career fairs, entrepreneurship seminars, drop-in interviewing, industry panels/forums, guest speaker engagements, Career Treks, marketing and branding opportunities, and more.

• Establishes small business, corporate, non-profit, and government partnerships to facilitate education, workforce, and economic development.

• Develops and implements small business talent acquisition training and preparation workshops for job creation/new hires and job retention.

• Reviews economic development reports, labor market trends, and regional surveys to stay current with the workforce and economic trends locally, state-wide, and across the nation.

• Creates and conveys demographics about students, alumni, and community job seekers and the business/employer community.

• Prepares and maintains a variety of qualitative and quantitative reporting related to grants, contracts, and special projects.

• Evaluates and approves employers and their job postings in the Ohlone College Career Link database; updates the career center website and social media content and ensures employers, students, alumni, and community members comply with Career Center guidelines.

• Provides small business job description and job posting training.

• Supports the development of policies, procedures, and programs for job seeker and employer stakeholders.

• Plans events to support student, small business, and employer engagement.

• Communicates with administrators, personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolves issues and conflicts and shares market information.

• Promotes institutional brand and awareness by increasing the presence of Ohlone College in the community through private and public engagement that includes memberships in trade organizations and related affiliations, chamber events, mixers, social business events, SBA and SBDC events, and community gatherings, public speaking opportunities and more.

Education and Experience:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

A bachelor’s degree and one year increasingly responsible and related experience or any combination equivalent.

 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

• Valid California driver’s license.
