In the early morning hours of June 12, 2016, an act of terror and hate took the lives of 49 angels and left 68 others wounded. Pulse Nightclub, a sanctuary of love and acceptance for Orlando’s LGBTQ community, was targeted in this heinous act.

In the aftermath of one of the deadliest mass shootings in modern American history, the community came together to prove that love will overcome fear and hatred. Under this banner, the onePULSE Foundation was created as a 501(c)(3) to memorialize this tragedy and ensure Pulse’s legacy of love, acceptance and hope was never lost. With the help of gracious donors, we continue to prove that We Will Not Let Hate Win.

MISISON & VISION STATEMENT

To create and support a memorial that opens hearts, a museum that opens minds, educational programs that open eyes and endowed scholarships that open doors.

Establishing a sanctuary of healing and a beacon of hope by memorializing the lives taken the lives saved and all the lives affected by the Pulse nightclub tragedy of June 12, 2016 – ensuring Pulse’s legacy of love lives on forever.

GOAL OF THE EDUCATION PROGRAMS

To be the resource and focal point to promote acceptance and inclusion among all interested persons, both gay and straight in all races, religions and ethnic categories; this role will include:

  • Thought leadership;
  • Changing mindsets;
  • Informing and influencing public policy; and
  • Create Sustainability for the Foundation

JOB SUMMARY

onePULSE Foundation (OPF) is seeking an inspired and passionate professional, educator and collaborator.

Our goal, through the Pulse Academy, is to develop a comprehensive education program to teach corporate and educational institutions about Amity, and to develop and administer the Legacy Scholarships in honor of our 49 Angels.  Initially you will be required to refine the Amity program, as well as implement, manage and cultivate opportunities for the program.  It will also include the development, implementation and management of the onePULSE Foundation Legacy Scholarships. The Vice President of Education reports to the Executive Director/CEO and COO. The V.P of Education also works with other key staff and consultants to create, implement, launch and oversee the OPF’s Pulse Academy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement an organization-wide education plan to broaden the target audience(s) understanding of OPF’s mission for the Pulse Academy’s Amity program and Legacy Scholarships.
  • Assist in the development of the curriculum model and methodology working directly with Disney Institute for the Amity Program
  • Identify and develop relationships for potential funding sources and expand the reach of the Amity program
  • On-going development and management of Amity program offerings, schedules and calendars
  • Work cohesively with CEO and website developer to manage and provide content on OPF website
  • Develop, implement and manage the Legacy Scholarship program including, development of scholarship criteria, rubric, operational procedure, scholarship software, selection process, awarding and renewal of scholarships.
  • Work cohesively with the CEO to ensure the approved consistent, disciplined and strategic process for the educational programs.
  • Implement systems for measurement, tracking and assessment of program awareness, engagement and track and analyze reports and suggest new ways to bring OPF’s message to the target audiences.
  • Ensure each Pulse Academy project progresses in accordance with approved deadlines and budgets.
  • Participate in community events and special events as necessary.
  • Manage third party education vendors and consultants as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree or minimum of Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience with developing and implementing education strategies.
  • Experience in sales.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating projects.
  • Effective budget development and implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including drafting, copy, editing and proofreading documents.
  • Ability to adjust to dynamically changing priorities and a fast-paced start-up environment, manage multiple projects and resources with competing priorities and timelines, innovate and learn new tools and processes, pitch in and “get hands dirty” in small non-profit environment.
  • Collaborative working style, independent, detail oriented, ready to take ownership, a self-starter.
  • Creative, strategic thinker who applies an audience-centered approach to education and sales.
  • High standards of excellence, including extraordinary organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with learning new techniques and technologies and proficient with standard office products and software.
  • Familiar with software such as (though not all required) Bloomerang, Community Force
  • Experience managing client/customer relationships.
  • Experience with LGBTQ and multi-cultural communities a plus.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Ability to train, coach and motivate.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills coupled with public speaking experience.
