Position:         Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager

Reports To:    Chief Development Officer

Job Summary:

The Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager advances Fountain House’s efforts to develop and maintain relationships with, and to increase support from, foundations, corporations and other institutional donors.

This position will be responsible for managing a fundraising program that raises approximately 30% of total dollars raised annually.  This is achieved through identifying new prospects; working with program staff to develop letters of inquiry, engagement strategies, and proposals; writing and editing grant proposals, budgets, and stewardship reports; overseeing and tracking all administrative functions, including acknowledgement letters, gift entry, payment schedules and report dates; cultivating and stewarding prospective and current foundation funders; and supervising one staff person.

This position seeks candidates who are knowledgeable of mental health issues and familiar with the public health landscape, versed in private funding streams and willing to be a strategic partner in all proposals for the External Affairs Department.

Job Functions:

  • Manage a comprehensive pro-active development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation relationships by coordinating activities related to obtaining corporate and foundation monetary support.
  • Identify, evaluate, cultivate and solicit five and six-figure (and larger) philanthropic commitments to support the mission and goals of Fountain House.
  • Work closely with program staff, members, board members, volunteers and other organization representatives to create opportunities to build awareness among corporate and foundation constituencies in order to build and significantly expand positive fundraising relationships.
  • Develop proposals for corporate and foundation prospects and leverage diverse corporate and foundation goals and preferences in conjunction with organization goals.
  • Maintain contacts with corporate and foundation representatives, follow moves management plans related to them, and create compelling presentations and comprehensive fundraising proposals.
  • Monitor proposal deadlines, prepare and edit proposals, and manage proposal submissions.
  • Manage stewardship process for active corporate and foundation prospects and donors. Ensure that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnerships by maintaining detailed records of solicitation activities.
  • Coordinate and schedule a yearly informal review of all Fountain House programs through which the External Affairs team will collect all relevant program information (including updated metrics, budgets, challenges/opportunities, vision for the future, partners, etc.) that is required to develop grant requests/reports throughout the fiscal year.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess current and valid U.S. work authorization and be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in corporate and foundation relations.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful grant writing in mental health or other relevant issues.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player with ability to work with a variety of partners.
  • Excellent organization skills needed to manage multiple priorities and projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable working in a non-structured environment, collaborating closely with Fountain House members and their families.
  • Commitment to social justice and mental health.
  • Bi-lingual a plus.
