Marist School is an independent, Roman Catholic, college-preparatory day school enrolling approximately 1,100 boys and girls in grades seven through twelve. The mission of Marist School to form the whole person in the image of Christ is created by blending three distinct traditions: the pursuit of academic excellence, the heritage of Catholic education, and the spirit of the Society of Mary. This mission is advanced through communal pursuit of excellence in academic, religious, extracurricular, leadership, and service programs.

Position Summary:

The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in carrying out the communications initiatives of Marist School. Working closely with and directly supporting the Director of Communications and Assistant Director of Communications, the Communications Coordinator works collaboratively within the Office for Institutional Advancement, across campus, and with external vendors to execute and manage effective and brand-affirming communications projects that engage the school community and advance the Marist mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as project manager and client service liaison to internal teams, managing project timelines, ensuring timely project completion, and communicating status updates and clear expectations for project execution
  • Manage production process for communications projects, coordinating with outside vendors (graphic designers, printers, signage companies, etc…) and acquiring cost estimates as required
  • Maintain the school’s website utilizing an integrated content management system; develop website content and oversee website user experience and interface design; serve as website point person internally and externally
  • Manage constituent database and distribution lists on website and email clients; provide user training as well as assistance for logins and settings; ensure database accuracy and manage annual database update process; create annual student directory
  • Create, edit, and send emails to segmented audiences; keep abreast of industry trends in digital communications
  • Coordinate photography and videography; provide photo and video coverage for the school as needed; hire and manage professional photographers and videographers for on-campus and other special events
  • Create brief, yet compelling video content to enhance digital communications efforts, creating digital graphics and filming and editing video as needed
  • Organize and maintain Marist’s digital photo and video archives; ensure that supplies of printed collateral are organized and accessible
  • Design and develop communications pieces and images (invitations, flyers, posters, email graphics, banners, animated graphics, etc…) to support school communications efforts
  • Contribute visual and written content for communications projects including, but not limited to, website, social media, news stories, Marist Matters magazine, and other printed collateral materials
  • Assist in the execution of Marist’s social media strategy on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Measure the effectiveness of digital media efforts (website, email, social media) through metrics and analytics
  • Steward Marist’s editorial and brand standards, ensuring the consistency and visual integrity of the school’s communications
  • Handle daily budget management activities, coding invoices and coordinating with the Business Office
  • Other duties, as assigned

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, graphic design, film/video production, or related field preferred
  • Two to three years progressive work experience
  • Experience with content management systems with a basic understanding of web programming and HTML
  • Superior client service and interpersonal skills with proven follow-through ability
  • Excellent project management, organization, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong graphic design, digital photography, and video production skills
  • Ability to understand, capture, tell, and depict stories that convey the mission and tone of Marist School
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills; knowledge of AP style a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines required; able to work quickly with a commitment to accuracy
  • Must have a positive mindset and be flexible, adaptable, and able to multitask
  • Must possess an open-mind and a willingness to accept feedback and make changes
  • High proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc…), Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite
