Part Time Communications Manager 

 

Cancer Support Community Atlanta (affiliated with the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute) is seeking a P/T Communications Manager (beginning at approximately 15 hours/week) with strong communications experience in the nonprofit and/or medical field. Ideal candidate will be able to show proven success in managing digital communications, including creating and curating content across multiple platforms. Other desired traits include professional presentation skills, basic competency in graphic design (i.e. Mircrosoft Publisher and Powerpoint), and fluency in media relations, such as press release development and distribution and events promotion. Must have highly collaborative interpersonal style with ability to exercise flexibility and work well with a small staff.


Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing Coordinator will assist in developing and implementing an annual marketing plan that will promote our nonprofit organizations' programs to the community and partners in the medical community. The Marketing Coordinator will also assist with an annual 5K event, including promotion and securing of sponsors for the fundraiser, and work with the Executive Director on media relations.

Responsibilities


• Promote on-going and special programming and events to targeted audience via social media and direct marketing, including monthly newsletter.
• Educate the general public and our community partners on the current programs offered by our organization via presence at public events such as health fairs and medical conferences.
• Increase member engagement and participation by developing a communications strategy that promotes participation.
• Develop a local media relations strategy that increases awareness of organization and partners and promotes events and fundraising.
• Maintain and increase web presence through website and social media.
 

Qualifications
• Bachelors degree, preferably in marketing or communications
• Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
• Proven fundraising experience is a plus
• Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to work with multiple professional levels
• Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
• Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
• Working knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite, Facebook, Twitter, Constant Contact, and Squarespace or other website development platform.
