Job Summary:  The purpose of this position is to ensure homeless/at-risk students are provided the opportunity to participate in mentoring program at their high school. Mentoring Program Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the program in 4 schools in South Fulton. This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours a week. Flexible hours, but school meetings take place during lunch.

StandUp For Kids – Atlanta Chapter is seeking a dynamic Mentoring Coordinator, responsible for the management and oversight of the StandUp Mentoring Program. School administrators, mentors, community partners and staff work together to empower homeless, unaccompanied and at-risk high school students towards personal and educational achievement through positive, supportive adult mentoring relationships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Work with school counselors, school social workers and homeless liaisons to receive student referrals in a timely manner and complete paperwork Meet with students selected for the program to explain the program, determine interest and assess needs for mentor matching Recruit volunteer mentor candidates for placement in appropriate high schools and matching their skillset with mentee needs Provide new mentors with program orientation OR Ensure new mentors complete program specific orientation Maintain relationships with school personnel who impact the ability to run the program in the school. Ex: Principals, administrative assistants Monitor and evaluate mentor/mentee relationships: provide coaching, resources, information, and support for each match participant as needed Plan and implement events for matched youth and their mentors such as college or tech. school visits Distribute hygiene, food pack and school supplies to appropriate school contacts for distribution to students Manage program budget within each school and the distribution of gift cards Ensure lunch resources are available at each school during the mentor/mentee meetings Recruit and manage school volunteer coordinators Plan and oversee mentor-mentee recognition activities, kickoffs and closure activities Collect data, prepare monthly program status reports and program outcomes for Executive Director Contribute appropriate information for social media updates.   Identify mentor sources and candidates Manage and identify community partners for region

 Professional Requirements

You MUST have experience working within a school system or working with a non-profit supporting youth at-risk and experience working with volunteers! Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision Maintain confidentiality Proficient use of desktop/laptop computers, smartphones/tablets, as well as software including MS Word and Excel is required Excellent communication (oral and written), organization, presentation and writing skills You will gain invaluable experience working with a supportive team focused on getting kids through high school.
