POSITION SUMMARY

The Grants Manager is responsible for leading the Grants function for Families First. The individual will manage, cultivate, and steward federal, state, and/or local government grants as well as a portfolio of foundation/corporate grants. The manager will lead all aspects of developing successful grant proposals/contracts and coordinating input across the organization as needed. The Grants Manager is responsible for compiling and delivering all post reporting and follow-up with funded grants. The Grants Manager is an active member of the Families First fundraising team.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 Lead organization-wide grants management and writing processes including prospect identification, research, cultivation, proposal/contract development and preparation, stewardship, and overall funder relations.

On a regular basis, meet with the Chief Development Officer and key staff across the organization to determine priorities and assess funding opportunities.

Establish and cultivate relationships with funder contacts through a variety of methods including attending internal and external meetings.

Research, develop, and write persuasive grant proposals to current and potential government and private (foundation or corporate) funders in compliance with format requirements, attachments, and deadlines.

In concert with program staff, ensure all grants have written goals, objectives, and outcomes that are achievable and align with grant requirements.

Effectively project manage a pipeline of complex grants and competing deadlines ensuring impacted staff members are properly informed of key deadlines and deliverables in advance.

Work closely with finance teams and programs teams to develop grant budget reports. 

 Ensure that deadlines are met and that proposals and reports are of the highest quality.

Manage memoranda of understanding (MOU) for the agency, identifying areas where MOUs may be necessary and coordinating the process of obtaining and cataloging MOUs.

 Work with staff to ensure accuracy and relevance of all materials included in any grant.

 Work across departments, especially Finance and Program teams, to ensure organizational compliance with grant terms and restrictions.

 Manage reporting processes, including gathering information for reports and preparing and submitting reports with input from appropriate program managers and Finance department.

  Maintain accurate records of grant activities and interaction with prospects and donors utilizing grants tracking tool and Families First Donor Management software.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred; minimum of 5 years’ grant writing experience; experience in non-profit development with an emphasis in government grant and foundation writing with demonstrated success in generating commitments from government agencies; experience working in human services preferred.
