POSITION TITLE: NextGen Manager

CATEGORY: Full-time, Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Philanthropy

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: As Jewish Atlanta continues to boom, Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta intends to play a bold and creative role within the community. The Philanthropy team is looking for a high-energy, motivated, flexible, detail-oriented and proactive fundraising professional to join our efforts as we identify and expand our presence in the NextGen space.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, you will work with a passionate team of Federation fundraising professionals to increase the impact of the organization’s work here in Atlanta, in Israel and the world.  As the NextGen Manager, you will engage with young stakeholders under 45 to build community, teach values-driven philanthropy, and engage NextGen in new and dynamic ways.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

NextGen Philanthropy

  • National Young Leadership Cabinet: Engage and steward existing Cabinet members and identify prospects. Play a key role in growing this leadership-focused NextGen program and assist the Director of Philanthropy in executing new promotional strategies. Manage marketing and communications throughout the Community Campaign and calendar year. Manage the solicitation of existing Cabinet members for their annual gift.
  • Ben Gurion Society: Engage and steward existing Ben Gurion Society members and identify prospects. Own BGS programming and work with lay leaders to execute value-add and thank you events throughout the year. Plan and execute new promotional strategies. Manage marketing and communications throughout the Community Campaign and calendar year. Manage the solicitation of existing BGS members for their annual gift.
  • Giving Circles: Recruit for and manage the NextGen Giving Circle program targeted towards young adults with high giving potential. Identify potential Giving Circle leaders and participants and execute the program in conjunction with Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta’s Community Campaign (Sep-Dec). Work with Atlanta Jewish Foundation profressioals to adjust Giving Circle curriculum as needed and grow the program to incorporate various giving levels. Manage marketing and communications in advance of and throughout the program.

NextGen Engagement

  • LEADS: Manage LEADS (Learning, Engagement & Discovery Series), Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta’s premier NextGen engagement program. Work with LEADS lay leadership in identifying potential LEADS leaders and participants and execute the program twice per calendar year (Spring and Fall). Adjust LEADS curriculum as needed and oversee LEADS leader trainings and follow-up programming. Manage marketing and communications in advance of and throughout the program.
  • NextGen Travel Opportunities: Assist with identifying potential NextGen participants and work with the Director of Philanthropy in recruitment, pre-trip engagement, and post-trip engagement. Serve as lead and/or support staff throughout the mission.
  • Birthright Israel: Assist with recruitment efforts for Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta’s robust Birthright Israel engagement portfolio. Serve as support staff on Atlanta Community Birthright Israel trips as needed. Engage Birthright Israel alumni through one-on-one meetings and support the Birthright Israel Fellows in the execution of alumni engagement programming. Encourage BRI alumni participation in additional Federation programs (LEADS, Giving Circles, NextGen Legacy, etc.) and promote Jewish Atlanta partnership programming.

Volunteer Management

  • NextGen Steering Committee: Manage the NextGen Steering Committee. Serve as the liaison between Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and this valuable cohort of young stakeholders. Listen to and execute suggestions given by the Steering Committee. Work with committee Chair and Vice-Chair in the planning of meetings, agendas, and group logistics.
  • Leadership: Identify, recruit, and work with members of the broader Atlanta NextGen community. Promote outstanding volunteers in this category to higher positions within the NextGen leadership portfolio (and general Federation leadership, when appropriate).

STATUS AND SCOPE: Initiate and respond to ongoing contacts with Federation staff, donors, volunteers and members of the local and national community. Position requires flexibility with the ability to focus on detail while handling multiple tasks.  Must be able to plan and organize assignments independently, to create and develop research and to present information effectively to groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Three to five years of experience in fundraising.  Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the Jewish community, strong interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.  Knowledge of computer and database utilization required.  Experience with recruitment and volunteer management. Excellent organizational and planning skills. High levels of motivation and creativity. Must have own transportation, valid State of Georgia driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance for traveling to outside meetings and events as well as occasional transporting of materials.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimal physical effort required with intermittent standing and walking and prolonged periods of sitting in meetings or at desk working with computer.  Position requires stamina to work extended days to include early morning, evening and weekend events and meetings in addition to the regular work schedule.
