Executive Director Position Profile

The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture is a non-profit organization (with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status) dedicated to advancing Georgia agriculture and creating healthy communities. The Foundation is governed by a statewide Board of Directors comprised of farmers, educators, agricultural, and community leaders. The Foundation raises funds from all available sources to fulfill the vision and mission of the Foundation: companies, organizations, grantmakers, special events, and individual donors. The vision of the Foundation is that all Georgians have local access to healthy, sustainable food and products. The mission of the Foundation is toeducate children and adults about agriculture, inspire agricultural careers, and preserve agriculture for future generations.

Key programs of the Foundation include scholarships for high school and college students, supporting Georgia 4-H and Georgia FFA; supporting elementary and middle school children in ag literacy projects through our Ag in the Classroom program; educating consumers about food sources, nutrition, and health; and creating growth opportunities for future agriculture leaders in communities across Georgia. Visit the GFB Foundation for Agriculture website for more information.

During 2018, the Foundation underwent a comprehensive organizational assessment process, resulting in renewal of strategic direction, changes to board composition and governance, and revisions to the role and responsibility of the Executive Director position, positioning the organization for growth in the years to come. The Executive Director reports to the Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, who is the chairman of the Georgia Farm Bureau.

The Foundation is seeking an Executive Director with a heart and passion for work that advances agriculture in Georgia and the willingness and ability to raise funds, provide vision and leadership, and manage the day-to-day operation of the GFB Foundation for Agriculture.

The Executive Director will create and maintain an active external relationship management schedule of solicitation, cultivation and stewardship calls. The successful candidate will be someone who has deep experience and a track record of success in fundraising for nonprofit organizations, a mindset geared to organizational growth and entrepreneurial thinking, the ability to engage a committed Board of Directors, and the ability to speak authentically, persuasively and effectively on behalf of the organization.

This opportunity is ideally suited for a motivated leader with the ability to forge and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders. Highly developed problem solving skills, flexibility, and the ability to travel statewide are required.
