POSITION TITLE:  Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator

SUPERVISOR:  Program Manager

LOCATION:  Atlanta, GA (Headquarters)

JOB STATUS:  Full-Time, Exempt

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: 

The Trainer and Technical Assistance Coordinator will provide training and technical assistance to community and school based decision-makers and staff to increase their capacity and confidence to implement evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention curricula.  The position requires knowledge and experience in teen pregnancy, HIV and STI prevention, curriculum implementation, monitoring and evaluation, training pedagogy, dynamics of school culture, project management.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functions Related to Training and TA Assistance:

  • Conduct research on school district policies and administrative practices to identify opportunities for training and exemplary interventions (programs, TA, and guidance)
  • Develop needs assessments and surveys to identify training needs
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate specific training and other performance improvement interventions
  • Select appropriate instructional procedures or method such as individual training, group instruction, self study, lectures, demonstrations, computer-based training
  • Organize and develop training manuals, reference library, testing, evaluation procedures and other educational materials
  • Demonstrate exceptional training skills in leading large group discussion, group facilitation and managing controversial subject matter using a wide range of training strategies
  • Conduct research on the latest training techniques or curricula regarding teen pregnancy, HIV, STI prevention, youth development, adolescent health and other relevant topics such as sexual assault, sexual abuse, dating violence and sex trafficking.
  • Coordinate project with community based or partner schools and school districts; monitors progress of trainees
  • Collaborate with state and local partners (i.e.: GAHPERD, RESA, Family Connection Partnerships, and Public Health) and other local partners to continue to build public and political will to support comprehensive sex education.
  • Support efforts to create an ISP web-based infrastructure in Georgia and increase educator access to research and information on comprehensive sex education.
  • Assess and monitor the implementation of the project activities.
  • Provide technical assistance on a variety of topics including science-based sex education and teen pregnancy prevention programs, effective facilitation methodology, best practice reports, and program evaluation
  • Attend regular meetings with implementation team.
  • Disseminate results and lessons learned to national evaluator, funder, local partners, and the fields of public health, education, sex education, teen pregnancy
  • Support activities and events that serve to advance the goals and objectives of Integrated School Programs (ISP).
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience in Training and Development, Education, Public Health or related field.
  • Three to five years experience in the design of training, performance improvement, and technical assistance with a demonstrated ability to plan and implement training and apply new technologies.
  • Three to five years experience managing health-related programs/projects.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and passion in working with adolescents in teen pregnancy prevention, youth development or another related field
  • Strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively with school district leaders and school-based staff to increase the will and competency to implement comprehensive education
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing training and technical assistance to professionals in program selection, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant theories including adult learning, social learning, stages of change, and diffusion of innovation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Project management and budgeting abilities
  • Proficiency with MS Office; spreadsheet software and internet software
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment; seek guidance when necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Creative, self-starter with the ability to organize, effectively establish priorities, and manage multiple assignments
  • Ability to travel 25-30% of time in and out of state
