Kenan Preschool Placement Coordinator (Part-time 12-15 hours per week)

Description:

The Atlanta Speech School is seeking an experienced educational leader to serve as the Kenan Preschool’s Educational Outplacement Coordinator.  The ideal candidate will understand young children’s learning profiles, including their language and academic development, cognitive processes, executive functions, and social-emotional development.  Understanding the importance of a placement that matches a child’s current level of academic and emotional development, she/he will facilitate an exhaustive review process that engages families and draws upon the expertise of school personnel.  His/her leadership will inspire confidence among parents and colleagues, and further, will allow us to honor our commitment to each child’s education.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties of the Position:

Implements placement procedures in consultation with the Kenan Preschool Director

Conducts informational meetings with parents regarding placement procedures

Consults with parents regarding admission criteria and guidelines for various school programs and provides appropriate follow-up throughout the admissions process

Serves as liaison between the Speech School and other schools and community agencies

Reviews educational records and works in consultation with the school director, learning team specialist and teachers to make recommendations in line with students’ learning profiles; Creates documents supporting these recommendations

Visits schools to keep abreast of new programs/personnel

Attends AAAIS Fall and Spring meetings and GISA meetings as needed

Informs parents about Principles of Best Practice in AAAIS admissions procedures

Makes contact with all admissions directors during admissions process to advocate for students of the Kenan Preschool

Conveys information regarding child’s learning profile to admissions directors accurately and with diplomacy

Conducts follow up phone calls and surveys on former students

Compiles statistics on outplacement

Participates fully on the Learning Team which includes admissions and consultations

Qualifications and Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Reading, or other related areas preferred, with experience in language, literacy, academics and student assessment

At least 10 years’ experience in an educational setting, with preference given to those who have had experience with admissions procedures

A current Georgia teaching certification or professional licensure is preferred, but consideration will also be given to candidates who are eligible for certification or license

Strong verbal and written communication skills

An appreciation for working in a collaborative environment

SALARY: Salary is commensurate with experience.
