Wholesome Wave Georgia is seeking an experienced, results-oriented Executive Director to lead the nonprofit organization in its mission to increase accessibility and affordability of fresh, healthy, locally grown food for all Georgians.

Founded in 2009, Wholesome Wave Georgia launched as a state-wide chapter of Wholesome Wave National’s Double Value Coupon Program to double Federal Nutrition Assistance (FNA; i.e., SNAP, WIC) benefits at Georgia farmers markets. Through our Georgia Fresh for Less (GF4L) program, WWG has grown from three partner farmers markets in 2009 to a network of 63 markets and direct-marketing farms today. WWG launched the Southeast’s first Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program® (FVRx®) in 2015, connecting low income families suffering from chronic illness to health care providers and nutrition and culinary education. Since 2009, WWG has provided over $2.7 million in healthy food to food-insecure families in Georgia and in revenue to local farmers.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be thoroughly committed to the execution of the organization’s strategic mission and vision and will lead the organization to:

(1) Provide strategic planning, direction, and vision to realize organizational mission, deepen and expand impact and effectiveness
(2) Develop, lead, and support an active and strong Staff, Board of Directors, and Advisory Board to enhance creativity, coordination, and execution of the organization and programs
(3) Cultivate robust philanthropic support exemplary of a thriving non-profit organization.



Inspire and engage staff to execute and achieve organization’s current strategic goals and vision

Intended Outcome: ED will ensure all major goals from the current strategic plan are achieved according to the established timeline


Inspire and engage WWG stakeholders to develop future strategic plans

Intended Outcome: ED will steward the development of 2020-2025 Strategic Plan


Be an external advocate who develops diverse new stakeholder partnerships at national and state levels and across industry sectors

Intended Outcome: ED will cultivate a diverse portfolio of programmatic partnerships to include a statewide representation of urban and rural communities as well as public and private entities


Re-imagine existing programs through an entrepreneurial lens to maximize growth and deepen impact

               Intended Outcome: ED will optimize existing programs for maximal client reach


Ensure ongoing programmatic, operational, and financial integration and alignment

Intended Outcome:  ED will ensure internal functions are aligned and high-performing through evaluation of current and integration of new organizational systems, policies, and procedures


Cultivate and steward an active Board of Directors by aligning board engagement with strategic direction

Intended Outcome: ED will activate Board in shared support of WWG goals via consistent meetings, communication, and feedback




Build and steward staff capacity via a culture of productive feedback

Intended Outcome: ED will lead Staff to consistently meet 90% of strategic plan objectives and deliverables


Lead, mentor, and retain staff by providing support to encourage innovation and systems level thinking

               Intended Outcome: ED will support Staff to grow and develop within their capacity at WWG

Recognize, honor, and adapt (if needed) organizational culture based on growth

Intended Outcome: ED will honor and steward the organizational culture through consistent engagement with Board and other relevant stakeholders



Inspire and engage WWG Development Committee to develop future fundraising strategy

Intended Outcome: ED will support Staff and Board to ensure they consistently meet 90% of Development Plan objectives and deliverables


Cultivate new and maintain current relationships with strategic philanthropic organizations and individuals

Intended Outcome: ED will cultivate and steward relationships with individuals, private foundations, corporate relations, and government entities


Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to grow organizational budget to support existing program operations and expansion

Intended Outcome: ED will work with Staff and Board to grow the budget from $904,627 in 2018 to $1.4 million by 2020



  • Demonstrable experience in organizational leadership, program strategy, fund development, and financial management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: demonstrated ability to express information effectively in a clear and convincing manner
  • Superb organizational and time management skills: demonstrated ability to efficiently and accurately juggle several responsibilities simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships and interact effectively with staff, donors, prospects, board members, program beneficiaries, and volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement change management strategies; experience working in organization during startup, merger, or expansion a plus
  • Community minded and passionate about sustainable food systems and low-resource populations
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in nonprofit management, business administration, or related field; three years’ supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge of Atlanta’s philanthropic community preferred


  • This position is full time, exempt at 40 hours per week
  • Salary is between $70,000-$80,000, including benefits, based on qualifications and experience
  • Position will be based out of WWG’s East Point, Atlanta office
