Bishop O’Dowd High School
Development Manager
Bishop O’Dowd High School is seeking a creative, dedicated, and results-oriented Development Manager to play a critical role in parent and alumni relations and fundraising. The Development Manager will join O’Dowd at a pivotal time in its 70-year history as the school is currently advancing a significant campus development project. The Manager will advance the School’s growing parent and alumni relations and fundraising initiatives, working in concert with a dedicated and experienced Development team.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Development Manager will play a leadership role in the management and execution of the School’s parent giving program. In addition, the Manager will manage a portfolio of 25 leadership parent donors with the goal of securing annual gifts of $5,000 and above. In the area of Alumni Relations, the Manager will support alumni communications and manage two alumni events – the Beer Garden and the Night at the Theater. This is a full-time, 11 month exempt position with a benefits package. Other duties, as assigned, in addition to the key responsibilities noted below.
Parent Giving
Parent Pledge Program:
- Oversight of program execution including, parent visit scheduling and follow-up, overall participation, reporting and communications
- Participate in parent meetings, along with other department members, to discuss giving at O’Dowd and solicit parent pledges.
- Manage the communication streams for the program including the gift acknowledgements, admissions and registration materials and donor recognition opportunities
- Other work in support of the parent pledge program
Special Gifts:
- Maintain a portfolio of parent donors (gift potential $25k+)
- Utilize moves management methodology to engage, cultivate and solicit assigned donors
Alumni Relations
Alumni Events:
- Manage, coordinate logistics and create/execute the marketing plans for two events – the Beer Garden and the Night at the Theater
- Grand Reunion – serve as liaison to several alumni classes
- Coordinate event logistics for small alumni events such as the Task Force and the Summit
Fundraising:
- Provide support for our volunteer reunion fundraisers
- Assist with other campaigns such as student philanthropy
- Thank you calls to donors
Communications:
- Provide oversight for alumni communications in partnership with alumni relations and marketing colleagues
- Identify and research post-worthy alumni news and updates to share across platforms
- Raiser’s Edge (RE):
- Identify, research and/or enter relevant data info into RE and produce reports to support research, cultivation and engagement
- Enter articles & class notes from Dragon Magazine into constituent records
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Meticulous organizational, project, and time management skills - must have strong ability and desire to multitask and meet deadlines
- Outstanding skills and background in customer service and outreach expected
- Experience in Catholic or independent school settings desirable
- Experience in non-profit fundraising or marketing preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required and Raiser's Edge preferred
- Ability to interface with constituents in a school environment (faculty, staff, students), board members, alumni, and parents
- Experience in managing and motivating volunteers in a non-profit environment a plus
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends, as required
