Family Service Coordinator

General Summary:

Family Service Coordinator (FSC) has primary responsibility for providing weekly, in-home parenting classes for parents of children ages 0-5. The intent of The Positive Parenting Program is to work to engage parents and families in the process of building positive, nurturing beliefs, knowledge and skills. He/she provides services to participants who are pregnant or parenting to include any skills to help the family become more stable. The  FSC also acts as a community liaison for the agency and participates in inter-agency meetings, councils,and community boards. The FSC serves as a facilitator for Nurturing Parenting Program center-based classes. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a knowledge of community resources and the social services system. Relevant experience and skill sets relative to interviewing, conducting assessments, developing and implementing case plans as well as case coordination that is inclusive of the entire family. 

Must have access to a reliable vehicle; a valid driver's license;and vehicle insurance. Ability to work flexible schedule. Family Service Coordinators should have patience, compassion and a strong desire  to help those with disabilities, disadvantages or other health or social needs.

It's key for these professionals to be able to communicate and listen effectively as well as maintain organization. Additionally, family service coordinators must be able to navigate through and discern information and resources specific to the specialty area, such as substance abuse, disability or employment. Must be empathetic and have patience and respect for families in need.
