About CPD + CPDA

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with more than 45 partner organizations in more than 38 states, Puerto Rico, and D.C., and build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.

About the Position:

The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action (CPD/CPDA) is seeking a full-time Senior Policy Strategist who will work closely with local community organizations to develop and win city and state and federal policy victories that advance immigrant justice and racial justice, and to envision and replicate strategies to protect immigrant communities from current anti-immigrant attacks. The Senior Policy Strategist will also work closely with colleagues to ensure that the experiences of immigrants are shaping all the issues campaigns that CPD/A works on. This person will work closely with the Co-Director of Community Dignity Campaigns and the Senior Campaign Manager, as well CPD/A’s communications and campaign staff, to coordinate national support for state-based community organizations leading these fights on the ground. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to help advance policy innovation on immigrant rights and racial justice in partnership with grassroots organizations at the forefront of this fight.

  • Develop local coalitions to lead campaigns, and support those coalitions in campaign development, legal research and policy analysis, legislative drafting, political advocacy, and communications work.

  • Liaise with immigrant rights groups inside the CPD/A network and nationally.

  • Represent CPD/A at conferences and other public events.

  • Help set long term strategy and direction for the immigrant rights team.

  • Collaborate with the CPD/A research team and other CPD/A staff on the generation of reports, policy statements, and other public facing documents about CPD/A's immigrant rights work

  • Fundraise -- draft proposals and reports, participate in calls with funders, facilitate subgranting to partners. Participate in all internal administrative tasks including quarterly and annual grant reporting.

  • Support local, state and federal work on policy proposals developed by the CPD/A campaigns team on a range of issue areas.

  • Experience working across departments or teams within an organization;

  • Success as an independent, self-motivated leader with an ability to drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment;

  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills;

  • Results-focused and organized;
