The Accounts Payable Supervisor supervises the overall accounts payable process for the University. Manages staff to ensure compliance with policy and procedure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Accounts Payable department:

  • Supervise, motivate and evaluate staff
  • Review documents for payment, review data entry edit reports and reconcile discrepancies
  • Perform weekly computer check run production
  • Monitor bank interfaces
  • Reconcile AP to GL
  • Research and analyze cost reports for departments
  • Prepare annual audit schedules
  • Interact with vendors, bank representatives, regional campuses and university staff
  • Responsible for yearend closing and accruals
  • Review and file 1099’s
  • Train employees on policies and procedures
  • Update and maintain databases and resolve system related issues
  • Perform special projects as assigned

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

The ideal candidate must have a BS in Accounting and a minimum of three years’ supervisory experience in accounts payable. Familiarity with student refund accounting is desired. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently required. Oracle system experience preferred.
