POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title:  Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Manager

Employee Classification:  Exempt          

Reports to:  Director of Advancement

The Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Manager has specific responsibility for all aspects of alumni relations, including programs, reunions, and communications. Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Manager is also responsible for planning and implementing The York Fund, including solicitations and volunteer coordination for alumni, parents, grandparents, and other constituencies.  This position also has responsibility for foundation grant writing and reporting. Some evening and weekend hours and travel are required.  The Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Manager is a member of the Advancement Team and reports to the Director of Advancement

Specific Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

Annual Giving

  1. Plan and implement a comprehensive annual fund strategy for alumni, parents, former parents, grandparents, and associates, through the use of direct mail, volunteer coordination, personal solicitations, phone-a-thons, and various targeted fund drives
  2. Develop annual fund appeals, pledge reminders and acknowledgement letters
  3. Develop stewardship plans and materials for donors
  4. Supervise direct mail campaigns and organize phone-a-thons
  5. Recruit, train, motivate, and manage volunteer leadership to accomplish annual fund goals
  6. Write foundation grant proposals and reports

Alumni Relations

  1. Plan and implement a comprehensive Alumni Relations program to serve the alumni constituency and build an engaged and supportive alumni community.
  2. Provide input to the Advancement Relations and Events Manager to develop an annual calendar of alumni events and activities to include campus visits, brown bag lunches with students, reunions, and regional events. Provide input to the Advancement Relations and Events Manager on the production of all alumni events.
  3. Engage alumni in the current life of the school by providing opportunities to volunteer and interact with current students and faculty
  4. Plan and implement a strategy to collect, organize, and communicate alumni data and accomplishments
  5. Work with the Communications, Marketing and Events Manager and the Director of Advancement to produce publications and communications, including contributions to the annual Impact Report, regular updates to the alumni section of the website, and monthly alumni e-newsletter
  6. Work with the alumni community to organize a York Alumni Council; provide staff support to the Alumni Council
  7. Develop and implement a strategy to engage current students in preparation for an active role as alumni
  8. Manage the school archives as the primary source for school and alumni history

Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 3 years experience in fund raising, alumni relations, or related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized and able to work productively in a fast-paced, high-production environment
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective relationships with donors, prospects, and the York community
  • High ethical standards
  • Flexibility and energy to work some evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working with electronic and digital media
