Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania (PPSP) is the local affiliate of the country’s leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider.  PPSP operates 10 health centers throughout Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.  Nationwide, Planned Parenthood affiliates operate more than 600 health centers, providing medical services and sexuality education for millions of individuals (adults and teens) each year.   We also work with allies worldwide to ensure that all people have the right and the means to meet their sexual and reproductive health care needs.

If you are passionate about reproductive health and the opportunity to contribute in a mission-driven environment, consider joining PPSP as Vice President of External Affairs.  This is a full-time position, reports to the President/CEO, supports a committed Board of Directors, serves as a member of senior leadership, oversees a staff of four, and provides strategic leadership, direction, and management for all aspects of PPSP’s external affairs initiatives.

Key priorities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following: 1) create, evaluate and advance partnerships and communications that shape the climate in which PPSP pursues its goals and provides its programs, along with those that mobilize and increase community support for PPSP issues and services; 2) direct governmental relations, political organizing to include working directly with our state office on electoral activities in southeastern PA, public advocacy and media efforts; and 3) manage External Affairs staff and volunteers.

Successful candidate will possess extremely well developed written and verbal communications skills, along with direct experience with public affairs programs, media relations, government processes, campaign, lobbying and community/political organizing programs.  Must understand the goals and philosophies of Planned Parenthood, be committed to providing quality healthcare, excellent customer service, and be able and willing to perform all of the essential functions of the position.

A Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in related area; 5+ years of leadership experience in government relations, lobbying, political advocacy, grassroots organizing and media messaging; significant management and supervisory experience also required.
