Position Overview:

The Development Associate is a key member of the leadership team and an active participant in determining strategy and organizational growth.  The salaried position reports to Executive Director.  In partnership with the Executive Director (ED), the Senior Associate of Development will spearhead development efforts as nsoro Foundation continues to grow, with focus in the areas of fundraising, assisting to forge new relationships to build visibility, impact and financial resources.  The Senior Associate will also have the opportunity to build the development function to meet to increasing fundraising demands of the organization through multiple sources including foundations, individuals, events, and corporate sponsorship and using various technologies and methods consistent with contemporary business practice.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Executive Director and Board with the development and execution of nsoro’s annual fundraising plan.
  2. Ensure all activities are contributing to overall goal of increasing foundation, individual and corporate support.
  3. Oversee all logistics of the annual Starfish Ball, including managing vendors, guest lists, auction items, printed materials, and day of details. 
  4. Support any other cultivation or fundraising events throughout the year.
  5. Manage donor database- Salesforce and oversee staff responsible for maintaining data entry of relevant donor information, contact/meeting mores, address updates, gift processing, etc.
  6. Conduct and maintain updated donor prospect research.
  7. Maintain master deadline calendar.
  8. Draft institutional and corporate grant proposals and reports and manage submission process.
  9. Assist with maintaining ongoing relationships with major donors.
  10. Liaise with program team and partners across the country to gather data, testimonials and other information relevant to donors.
  11. Manage nsoro’s multiple social media channels and update website regularly, ensuring a consistency of brand and message across all.
  12. Provide support to Board members as needed and assist in the preparation of quarterly Board meetings.
  13. Proactively recruit, train and supervise interns and volunteers to meet the development needs of the organization in lieu of resources to hire paid staff.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

2. Commitment to organization mission and leadership

3. 2-plus years’ experience in development

5. Knowledge of Sales Force or other comparable fundraising software

Core Competencies:

  1. Proven ability to prospect, cultivate and manage relationships with multiple donor sources.
  2. Experience in financial reporting and budget management
  3. Capacity to develop and coordinate web-based fundraising and imaginative fundraising events.
  4. A problem solver who can adapt easily to new situations and is comfortable dealing with external partners, c-level executives and members of the board of directors.
  5. An excellent communicator who can maintain a consistent message and branding throughout multiple platforms
  6. An organized, polished professional with acute attention to detail and the ability to maintain discretion regarding sensitive or financial matters
  7. A passionate and informed citizen who is committed to the foster care population, education and college access
