The Mentorship Program Coordinator will support GGU’s mentorship initiative including engagement and support of GGU’s network of alumni, students, faculty, alumni and external constituents. The Coordinator will work with department staff, volunteers, campus partners, local companies and vendors to recruit and manage an online community and provide training and networking activities for program participants.

The candidate will demonstrate professional expertise in planning and executing projects and activities that are accessible and engaging for internal and external audiences. To manage and support the online community, the position requires a strong aptitude for technology, digital media and the ability to interpret and translate technical utility and processes for others. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, experience with social networking and strong attention to audience engagement and support is essential.

Essential Duties

Communications & Online Community Coordination

  • With the Director of Mentorship, develop, implement, and assess mentorship program branding and communications strategy that align with institutional goals and alumni/student interests.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day management of the university’s online community for connections and mentoring using the PeopleGrove platform
  • Identify and develop segmented communications with student and alumni audiences
  • Support online network users. Develop trainings and videos to support adoption, respond to inquiries, troubleshoot issues and assist constituents with understanding and accessing resources
  • Track, analyze and report on network and communications activity
  • Conduct audience research and analyze data related to network programs and activities; create reports as necessary.
  • Investigate, propose, and support new activities to foster student & alumni networking and mentorship through new and existing events, resources and partnerships.
  • Research emerging technology and opportunities to expand online services for participants
  • Share network information and content with campus and external partners. Write and/or edit stories for website and communications.
Networking & Event Coordination

  • Be a positive brand ambassador and advocate for developing and promoting a strong networking culture within the university community and with the business community
  • Plan and manage in-person and online training, learning activities, networking and recognition events
  • Develop, implement and assess goals for each activity according to best practices
  • Recruit, manage and track alumni and student participation
Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with various department and university events requiring occasional evening and weekend attendance
  • Remain competent and current through self-directed professional development and attend trainings and / or courses as directed
  • Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with current technology, digital communications and networking trends, including social media, email marketing, and virtual networking/engagement platforms
  • Demonstrated knowledge of alumni relations, student affairs, constituent engagement, and/or community building
  • Project management experience: Strong organizational skills, ability to manage several projects simultaneously and ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience and competency demonstrated in computer applications such as: MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and database applications
  • Active social media user
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required. Ability to inspire and motivate students, alumni, volunteers and external constituents.
  • Analytical with strong organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a diverse, multicultural environment
  • Experience managing volunteers
  • Confident, positive, professional demeanor working with internal and external facing constituents
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Experience in digital communications and marketing preferred
  • Experience designing, planning and managing high-profile events desired
  • Experience developing and leading professional development, training and networking workshops desired
Education

Bachelor's degree required
