JOB SUMMARY:
The IT Director is responsible for BGCMA’s IT strategy and implementation. Additional responsibilities include identifying areas of organizational improvement while supporting cost-effective technology solutions and driving organizational technology initiatives.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategy & Planning

  • Investigate/evaluate new technologies for use within our business solutions supporting staff and youth
  • Implementation of IT Governance policies and procedures.
  • Act as Secretary of the Technology Action Committee.
  • Develop an IT security plan.
     

Acquisition

  • Benchmark and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT Department, including purchasing and budgeting, and budget review.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor and consultant contracts and service agreements.
     

Operational Management

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Leadership of cross-functional resources focused on the delivery of solutions from requirements definition through finished state.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Practice asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
  • Responsible for content support in grant and donor applications and deliverables pertaining to information technology.
     

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (in the field of computer science or MIS preferred) and 5 years related work experience.
     

Experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Procurement and vendor management expertise
  • Experience in telecommunications both voice and data service acquisition and monitoring
  • Extensive application support experience both on premise and in the Cloud.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
    Strong understanding of project management principles.
     

Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with championing and executing IT best practices.
