Goal: The Youth Ministry Intern Program provides seminary students, graduates, and others with gifts for ministry the opportunity for hands-on leadership in a church-based Youth Ministry Program and offers the church increased levels of energy, creativity, and relational capacity.
Position Purpose: To lead, serve, mentor, build relationships and minister to youth in grades 6-12 at Shallowford Presbyterian Church. The Youth Ministry Intern will work closely with the Director of Youth and Program Ministries to plan, coordinate, and implement the youth program for the purpose of building the faith of our youth.

• A strong understanding of and love for the Word of God
• A willingness to collaborate with Director, volunteers, and youth families
• Experience working with youth
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Must pass background check

Essential Duties:
• Work with the Director of Youth and Program Ministries to plan, lead, and evaluate the weekly Sunday school and fellowship activities and programs.
• Meet bi-weekly with the Director of Youth and Program Ministries for troubleshooting, program development, and personal growth.
• Plan and lead a middle school/high school boys small group.
• Attend and lead Friday Morning Breakfasts, youth retreats, lock-ins, and other special ministry events.
• Develop meaningful relationships with the youth and their families including outreach to youth at extracurricular activities.
• Effective and timely communication with youth and their families.
• Teach and coordinate volunteers for Youth Sunday School, including collaborating with Director for curriculum.
• Attend Youth Committee meetings once a month to further the Youth Ministry vision statement, mission, and goals.
• Participate in worship as requested by the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff and be present in worship.
Hours: 8-10 hours per week, to be negotiated. Paid position.
Regular hours: Sunday mornings and evenings, Friday mornings
Start Date: Role would begin late July/early August. Possibilities of an early start date with adjusted responsibilities if able to go on trips in Summer 2019.
