The Data Analytics & Prospect Research Assistant/Associate supports the strategic goals of the Data Analytics and Prospect Research (DAPR) department and the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health. Through prospect identification, research, data acquisition, data analysis and data monitoring, the Assistant/Associate deepens the Foundation’s institutional knowledge and data integrity of its prospects by playing a vital role in helping the Foundation meet its goals for fundraising, engagement, communications, and stewardship.

GENERAL POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Associate Director, the essential duties of the DAPR Assistant/Associate include:

  • Proactively identify, research, and analyze new and existing donors and prospects for gift cultivation
  • Interpret and analyze biographical and financial information on individuals, corporations and foundations, based on fundraising strategies and objectives to inform the fundraising process.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all research requests and add them to the DAPR project log.
  • Assist in prepping materials for gift officer monthly check-ins.
  • May attend select gift officer monthly check-in’s and may actively participate in portfolio review and prospect management strategy discussions.
  • Write and edit succinct and informative prospect profiles and present information in a manner consistent with department standards.
  • May serve as a liaison to fundraising teams.
  • Monitor periodicals and other sources for philanthropy, career, news, and other relevant data on prospects; circulate to appropriate end-user and update database.
  • Manage event bio process; compile and edit all background information for donor events
  • Maintain research related spreadsheets and documents
  • Perform Raiser’s Edge updates for the research department from large-scale data mining projects
  • Help to ensure department compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Recommend new approaches, procedures and processes to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Required:

  • 1+ years of experience in administration, fundraising, development research, information services or related field.
  • Must be able to work well under the pressure of deadlines, be able to handle several projects simultaneously, and be able to shift priorities as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to produce error free work when performing a variety of functions such as typing, text editing, data entry, file management, and calculations is required.
  • High level of productivity and initiative.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
  • Self-motivation with the flexibility to work independently or on a team.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff across an institution; strong team player with recognized leadership capacity and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate directly and effectively with others.
  • Tactfulness, flexibility, and creativity are essential in working with diverse population groups (constituents, physicians, faculty, staff, vendors, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to be resilient and adaptable in the face of changing priorities.
  • A genuine interest in children and their health.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Raiser’s Edge or database is preferred.
  • Previous experience in donor prospect research is preferred but not required.
