Based in Atlanta, GA, the American College of Rheumatology is a professional association for physicians, health professionals and scientists that work in the medical subspecialty of rheumatology. The ACR has over 9,400 members from around the world. POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Specialist, Education Engagement is charged with coordinating educational activities that offer learners deeper and more diverse learning experiences year round. This position supports the creation, management, and evaluation of these activities designed to extend the value of educational activities and increase revenue beyond traditional educational meetings and enduring materials. This position and frequently works with vendors, staff, and committee volunteers and also provides back up support for inquiries regarding educational activities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates the application and review process for ACR Approved Educational Partners program, includes but not limited to: preparing promotional communications, reviewing submissions, answering submission inquiries, preparing submissions for evaluation and scoring, creating announcement of approved partners, and working with partners as needed on program implementation
- Coordinates the repurposing of education content into various formats, including working with content experts to summarize content and marketing and communications staff or vendors to compile and disseminate
- Prepare and monitor budgets and collect/disburse payments for educational engagement activities
- Create relevant promotional materials, and respond to inquiries for activities designed to expand educational experiences year round
- Prepare reports on activities that extend learner engagement for the planning committees and ACR Committee on Education
- Make recommendations for activity enhancements that will increase learner engagement, based on data driven metrics
- Prepare website content and member communication related to the educational engagement
- Implement new initiatives to expand learning beyond traditional formats in order to engage learners
- Some overnight and weekend travel as required to fulfill job responsibilities
- Any other duties as the Director, Continuing Medical Education, the Vice President, Education, or the ACR Executive Vice President may assign
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent professional experience
- Two to five years’ experience in live or digital education for adult learners.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office programs is essential, including Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word and online databases. Experience in Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and JIRA or other ticketing software is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise and success in:
- Clear oral and written communication
- Project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to design and utilize diverse communications methods and tools to effectively target messages to stakeholders and clearly convey concepts
- Excellent proofreading/editing skills
- Highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to working as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff, volunteers, members, and vendors tactfully and efficiently
- Knowledge of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Accreditation Criteria, including the Standards for Commercial Support; the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician’s Recognition Award and Credit System for Continuing Medical Education (CME); and the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program
- Experience communicating with outside organizations or internal customers that may involve project coordination, information sharing, or resolution of problems
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds on a routine basis
