Our 36-year-old nonprofit organization needs an accounting person to keep records and reconcile accounts. We are a 501(c)3 charity serving the visually impaired in 30+ counties in NW Georgia. The qualified candidate will have strong quantitative and interpersonal skills, as well as proficiency in basic accounting functions and software programs plus be an intermediate Excel user. We are looking for an individual willing to build relationships with customers and be part of our team to further the knowledge of our work in the community. Experience in the nonprofit arena is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the General Ledger
- Create and distribute multiple Client Invoices monthly
- Manage billing process with various employees and 1099 vendors
- Enter and balance accounts receivable and payable
- Records & verifies payments received or due the organization including delinquent account follow up
- Prepares & processes payments due by the organization accurately and timely
- Track deposits made to bank and handle deposit transfers
- Bi-monthly payroll preparation and employee time tracking
- Assemble financial data for audits
- Monitor credit card charges, payment discrepancies, refunds, returns and miscellaneous charges
- Maintain orderly financial records filing system
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports to present to ED, Board Chair, and Board Treasurer monthly
- Ad hoc reporting
Qualifications & Skills
- Pursuit of Associate Degree in Business or Accounting required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting (optional)
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (intermediate user of Excel required)
- QuickBooks proficiency preferred
- Excellent communication and administrative skills
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
- Knowledge of bank reconciliation and tracking credit card transactions
