GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Direct and expand the Southeast region’s base of philanthropic support through donor cultivation, research, proposal writing, submission of grant proposals and reports, and through other fundraising activities, which will include coordinating fundraising events to increase donor awareness.Team with regional leadership to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward support from various sources which may include corporations, foundations, workplace giving campaigns, government funding, and faith-based funders. Work collaboratively with Resident Services, Real Estate Development, and Finance staff on development of grant materials and stewardship of funds. Supervise appropriate Philanthropy staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree preferred in business, non-profit management, communications, public relations, marketing, or related field. CFRE Certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five (5) years in prospect research, grant writing and management, and donor communication.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL

  1. Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising program including annual and planned giving, government contracts, grants, corporate gifts, individual gifts, and stewardship for the Region.
  2. Direct and implement fundraising activities, including researching, sourcing and managing introductions with donor prospects; planning, facilitating and documenting meetings and entering them in the relational database (Raiser’s Edge); coordinating and working with other Regional staff in the cultivation and stewardship of all new philanthropy prospects through pipeline management best practices.
  3. Provide leadership in the planning and implementation of Regional gala, ribbon- cutting/groundbreaking, and other special events, press and volunteer opportunities for corporate and foundation partners.
  4. Supervise, mentor, and cultivate existing supervisee(s) to take increasing responsibility over designated relationships and components of the fundraising portfolio. Oversee grant writing staff in research, cultivation, follow-up and reporting.
  5. Coordinate philanthropy efforts with corporations and foundation with Mercy Housing National Philanthropy team members as required.
  6. Coordinate external communications functions that expands Mercy Housing’s visibility with target audiences via coordination with Mercy Housing, Inc. communications department in Denver, Colorado and management of local public relations resources as available.
  7. Assure appropriate follow-up with individual, foundation and corporate funders including all acknowledgments, general correspondence letters and communications with personal contacts.
  8. Prepare weekly, quarterly and annual progress reports on Regional fundraising activities for the Regional President, Board, and Mercy Housing National Philanthropy team members as requested.
  9. Collaborate with Resident Service and Real Estate Development staff to support evidence- based program design, program budgets, creation of logic models, and establishment of meaningful goals and outcomes for specific grant opportunities.
  10. Collaborate on other Philanthropy and Marketing activities (annual appeal, events, and newsletter) with Mercy Housing Inc. and Regional networks as assigned.
  11. Hire, mentor, and supervise Regional philanthropy staff.
