Position Title:  HUNGER RELIEF COORDINATOR

Reports to:  Program Director, Hunger Relief

Position Mission:  To support the needs of communities served by Action Ministries’ Hunger Relief program. The Hunger Relief Coordinator is responsible for the administration of Smart Lunch Smart Kid Summer Lunch Program for Augusta/Richmond County. This individual will serve as the local volunteer coordinator, community liaison, and program coordinator.

Action Ministries Mission:  Action Ministries mobilizes communities to address the challenges of poverty by focusing on hunger relief, housing and education.

   

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Identify, recruit, train and manage all necessary volunteers to support program and community needs
  • Assist in the development and tracking of volunteer and partner activities and events
  • Work with program director in developing and implementing feeding sites and delivery schedules/routes in area
  • Manage logistics of the volunteer led lunch preparation and distribution during the summer feeding months
  • Guide implementation of volunteer led enrichment, activities and book distribution to kids at summer feeding sites
  • Coordinate volunteers for the pick-up and distribution of meal packs and food boxes to partnering schools, churches, and other community sites throughout the year
  • Deliver or pick-up food as needed
  • Assist in managing food drives
  • Help coordinate and assist pick-ups at the central warehouse
  • Support the local Regional Director in the growth and development of partnerships
  • Assess, identify and review needs in local communities
  • Provide tracking, reporting and administrative support
  • Manage acquisition of donated and purchased product

  Skills, Attributes, & Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a high degree of skill in leadership, administrative, writing, and verbal communications
  • Ability and willingness to drive the organization’s vehicle, including a box truck or van, and personal vehicle as needed
  • Some college required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Must have 1-2 years experience with volunteer recruitment, program and/or non-profit coordination

Additional Information/ Requirements

  • Clearance of driving record check
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Drug Screening prior to employment

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Hours: 20-28 hrs/week; Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • This position regularly requires occasional time beyond program hours and some weekend work
  • Ability to work max hours  is required
  • Travel: Capacity to travel in region for pick up and/or delivery of food and partner relations
  • Lift 50 pounds repetitively on occasion
  • Frequent lifting and bending; full range of motion in lower and upper extremities and use of back
  • Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment on occasion
  • Able to withstand working in summer temperatures
